Please allow us to ask our companions about their stories once we have recruited them

So that they can tell it for us again if we forgot. It would probably be a real simple edit to add their dialogue sequence to the party talk interface, or am I wrong?

Anyone else who would like this? I feel as though once they are recruited their backstory is no longer available.

I totally agree. Yeah its super minor, but it would be nice to have and it seems like a super simple thing to add.

Another small thing I wish they'd add is the little personality summary in the encyclopedia that all lords and ladies get but wanderers don't for some reason. They show the summary if they're made into a vassal, so why not show it when they're just companions? Again, super minor, but it would be a nice touch

I agree, I already thought that they did but apparently remember incorrectly. One additional thing companions should definitely do is telling additional stories about themselves when we go near their hometown/village like in Warband.

Could have been a thing, except... Wanderers isn't unique... They get distributed out from templates. What make one "spicevendor" more uniqe then another?

Much of the same reasons why kids you have in the game doesn't come with fleshed out backstories right?

Take photos of your screen when they are telling backstories and arrange them into a tasteful photo album.

This is an easy solution for a bit more immersion.
But I have to admit that since i know companions are randomly generated I don’t care about the backstories anymore.

One problem with this, though, would it work on console spawned companions? I mean companions that you spawn through the developer console? Or would this cause issues with them? Asking because I spawn companions a bit in my new sandbox right now, due to them always spawning with the culture of the Main Character.

This is too much work.

So they repeat the stories. Big deal. All the spicevendors are already telling the same story on first meeting anyway. You shouldn't need to hire another spicevendor just to hear the story again.

If the backstory is tied to the nickname, then this shouldn't be an issue. A console spawned spicevendor should tell the same story as one hired in a tavern

I'm pretty sure only the first tells the full story. The ones after that give an abridged, generalist retelling.

Companions are randomly spawned/generated, but their stories aren't. It's only the traits that maybe affect their relation (raiding, fleeing battle, hungry); and only that first time. Once you've seen Spicevendor X, you've seen them all.
They lack the same relationship tie as in Warband where you can have Jeremus and Ymira, but not Lezalit and Bundit (can't remember the exact comp) without some sort of conflict (since they don't 'die/age').

They don't have any adlib/'randomness' to them to just grab from a large library of variables for their simple backgrounds; like you can see in Rimworld with social interactions (but maybe not to their degree of ridiculousness).

Is that true? The game just treats them as totally interchangeable clones. At least give them the dignity of being able to tell their stories. I'm happy to pretend I haven't heard it before.
