Please add battle chatter

While troop grunting when given orders are a welcomed addition, random shouting, chatter etc would add more immersion to a battle, specifically in the midst of siege. It’s very awkward when your men are rushing the walls of a castle and waiting for the ladders to raise without making any form of noise. Background sound such as Jeering, cheering, screams, shouts and even conversations would be very welcomed.

+1. Having siege operators muttering under their breath or getting snappy would add abuncha immersion

I'm all for this! Particularly for sieges. Having the occasional command shouted, a quip between soldiers, some idle coughing... It could go a long way towards adding to the immersion of the battlefield. I suspect it'll have to come from modders, though, it feels like it's outside the scope of native development.

Maybe I'm daydreaming, but hearing them in their native languages (for each faction) would be superb.

Only thing is, they'd have to create the languages, at least enough to cover the chatter. Unless they used straight up analogues from existing languages. I mean they do it with English, so it wouldn't be a huge stretch.

+1 and I would add: even more immersion by having the chatter reflect the current party morale.

E.g. if morale is high, the chatter would be basically the lads bantering and talking **** to each other in high spirited tones. When low, it would be more 'chin up lads, I know things have been rough / the food's been ****e, but we've a battle to fight now and bastards to kill!'.

Why limit it just to battles? Watching the gameplay videos from Gamescom, the towns seem pretty dead. Hearing townspeople say the odd thing now and again could provide not only a bit of life to the towns, but they can passively inform the player about the state of the village itself. “you hear bandits attacked one of our caravans?” ”I’m ready for this miserable war to be over” ”Lord or not, I really don’t see how that woman would want to marry him.”

hell, you could have vendors/shopkeepers yell out for customers. “Swords! Axes! Maces! If it can kill, then we sell it.”

then again, it’d probably be a nightmare doing that, recording all those lines for all those factions

Great idea! In towns also could be drunkards stumbling around, preachers sprouting nonsense, and womans of questionable morals (maybe in taverns?). Now I know that this would add to the performance but: how about during siege have some civilians run from door to door panicking?
