playing the banjo strings...

well the name says it all really, my new banjo should be arriving soon!

just wondered if anyone on here played the banjo? perticularly the 5-string banjo?

would be good to get some pointers and tips you might have picked up.

I can play the theme from Banjo Kazooie on guitar with tapping! It is perhaps the most despicable thing I have ever done in my life. Other than that unrelated post and ultimately unhelpful post all I can say is try growing a really long beard, I hear it helps.

What sorta music do you plan to play? Are you into your traditional bluegrass banjo and/or do you listen to more modern dudes like Bela Fleck and that?

I listen to a few unknown people, mainly a friends band who has two banjo players.

but my fave group who have a banjo player in them is a British band called Mumford and sons.

i have no idea what i want to learn just yet..

I just looked up the song Little Lion Man on youtube, that's pretty badass man, it's good to see the banjo used in more updated contemporary music, nice find!

i read a review on the new album mumford and sons, ill paste it below.

i think that best describes the band. they are one of the few bands out there that seem to be making music because they love it.
