PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUND: The Revenge of the Conceited Capslock.

People were talking about Battleground in the screenshot thread and organizing a TW goon squad. I play this game far too much and am always looking for people, so if anyone wants to try and get a game going sometimes just post a preferred time and date here.

Also, talk about the game and whatever.

And for any of you ****ing ****s who tell me this is a ****ty OP, Battlegrounds is that game that's more popular than the sinful degradation of western society at the hands of the liberals so you already know what it is and what it's about. You jerks.

Ban OP imo, he's a white knighting trash person stuck up on his high horse. You should respect people of all ethnicities, including Turquoise.

thanks

No, it really isn't. I don't know why people keep saying that. All the other versions were literally mods, but this is the first one built from the ground up for this game mode instead of repurposing a military sim or a zombie game. It's the superior culmination of all the others, and as I never played the others, it's great fun. That's like saying Rising Storm is a paid mod because Tripwire hired on the modders. It had a noticeable jump in quality to the point that it is its own product.

It's also essentially a paid mod. You know, food for thought.

Everything that's wrong with new generation PC games and gamers. Burn this thread and ban OP

Because it is. A mod for Arma 3 comes out called "PLAYERUNKNOWN's Battle Royale" and is rather successful, then suddenly stops being developed when this new game comes out? Can't be a paid mod though. Nopenopenope

I jest, but "paid mods" are a problem?

Most of Battlefield 2 was developed by the team behind Desert Combat for BF1942. BF2 is "essentially a paid mod" yet really good. PUBG is pretty good too. The same thing goes with Counter-Strike and every other source game in that vein. Who cares if the dev team made a mod first! (obviously the full product has to improve upon the mod, that goes without saying )

Why the **** would he continue developing the mod when he has the chance to make a **** ton of money by finally making his own game? He literally just chose to make money off of his product while making it better because it's on an engine designed for it. If I was making a mod and realized a lot of people were playing it, then I'd stop and turn it into a game if I could. But it wouldn't be the same thing. It would be improved because it's built fully around my design, rather than changing someone else's. I don't see why you seem so salty that the guy decided that he wanted to make a game from the ground up built for his concept and charge for it after having free versions in other games for years. The H1Z1 thing was one of the most popular games on Twitch hands down, and I didn't like it very much at all for the 3 rounds I tried. But I love this game, because it's a standalone game that wasn't forced into existence by manipulating a zombie survival game.

I haven't played this, but I don't consider it a paid mod personally. It uses a new engine and doesn't use Arma assets, unlike some of the other recent games, coughsquadcough.

They host all the servers and stuff, provide matchmaking ect. Calling it a paid mod is a bit bizarre, Dayz is a paid mod.

Game looks pretty fun. Haven't had a chance to play it yet but I watched the Polygon videos of them playing it. Looks pretty intense. Anyone here played it?

Aye, it's really fun and intense as you mentioned. My main gripes with it is the low server tick rate and the 3rd person combat (personal taste I guess), I've already got 200 hours on it and I'm not growing bored of it despite those problems. They've said that their aim is to get 60 tick for the servers and I think they've also mentioned they're going to add a 1st person only mode so the game. The dev team seems competent as well, they do weekly bug fixing/polishing updates and monthly content updates so I do think the game will be truly great in the future.

Not really into playing it, but I really enjoy watching. And every FPP-only event I saw is incomparably more intense and dynamic than average 'two guys behind walls 3rd person periscoping at each other' action.

Dota 2 is esentially also a paid mod, and by that definition so is League of Legends and other games. A lot of games start out by being a custom mod from another game. They can't help that people like their mode better.

Also, PUBG is a fun game, but definitely has its flaws since it's Early Access.

I was really bummed when I saw zombies. Until I read that they are player controlled, and now I'm super excited. It won't be an empty Dayz with braindead bots, but more of a "You're being hunted by super-powered melee-only opponents in the middle of nowhere." Someone mentioned an idea that was "5 out of the hundred people start as zombies, but everyone who dies turns into one, and you have to survive until the time's up."
