Knight
This game is awesome and i love it, the producing team is amazing but still i would be lying if I would say there is nothing to be done so here it goes:

1. What bugs me the most with MB is troop upgrading, dont understand how can u upgrade a foot soldier to a knight in the middle of the wilderness. Where do u get the new equipment? Where do the horses appear from?

It simply doesn’t seem real to me, the player should be able to upgrade troops only in friendly and neutral towns. This also stops the player from upgrading troops during battles which seems unreal and unfair to me.

2. Also considering the current payment of the troops i wonder where they get the money to equip themselves, the equipment of knights is simply too costly to be bought with the salaries they get.

There should be upgrading costs to the player depending on the level of the upgraded unit or/and the gear necessary. This should help balance the number of high level units in the players party or at least make him really curse those damn sea raiders once one of their knights dies.

Had way more suggestions but just noticed the rules and I should keep it to one, so tell me what u think about these ones and I will throw the others later.

Also sry if they have been suggested before the threads are simply too many and too long for me to check.

I like to think of it as most of the equipment dropped by killed/captured enemies are picked up by your men for use or barter on their own, you getting only normal goods and  equipment that is unclaimed.  Upgrades mean you men have enough fighting skill AND has acquired enough items to 'upgrade themselves', and you 'upgrading them' is just a formality of declaring them a better soldier than they were before.  Sort of like presenting them with a medal of valor or a purple heart or something to that nature.

1: personally i don't mind upgrading troops in the field, maybe it could be reworded to something like 'promoted'?

2: as the above poster mentioned, a large portion of the loot from a battle is taken by your men, so it is not unreasonable to assume they can get their own gear. historically troops paid for their own equipment (i'm talking romans here, but it could happen)

hmm ok agree didnt consider the loot to be shared by the troops makes sence then.

But surely you wouldnt find the specific equipment necessary to upgrade your troops in the wild or even from fallen enemies. The enemy's equipment is most probably way different from the needed one, sea raiders have no horses for example others have no heavy armour. You don’t expect river pirates to have expensive items, also part of the equipment from fallen soldiers should not be in condition to be used otherwise their original owner wouldn’t be lying in the floor to begin with

Unreal, yes. Unfair, no. It would be *really* annoying to have to return to your own land when you are raiding at the other end of the map leveling up a bunch of low-tier troops.
