concerning DK rebalancing - it has been said their stats and armor will be nerfed in future versions but they will be specialists in all troop types (infantry, archery, cavalry). maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a few more lords to the DKs? just a thought

Just something I was wondering about and I don't specifically see it in the plans section for this mod but: Are you guys in any way affiliated with and committed to possibly putting some of the cooler aspects of Floris's compilation mod into this one?

I see the freelancer suggestion up there but it's always seemed such a shame that both mods seem to lack the really interesting side of each other. For instance: Floris has an awesome system for running your own kingdom with the setting of tax rates and domestic policy and giving troops to fellow lords and such which actually lets you run a kingdom without everyone hating you because you were fair about dividing lands. And it has a lot of simpler things like redyeing your map so you can have the Sarranid colors for your faction if you want and they can have something else. (Great for making the dark knights grey not black so you can actually see what they have on most backgrounds).

On the other hand your mod has by far more interesting villages and towns in what you can build and better troop trees in many ways. (And assassins loved that part). I was just wondering if there is any plan to integrate some of the simpler but adorable parts from the two mods if not or this has been asked a lot sorry, didn't feel like wading through the entire 14 pages just to check.

Just on a side note, this particular version is just not ready to go, a lot of the troops have weapons and weapon skills which just don't have any logical pairing. Female mercenary archers upgrading to  master huntress and stalkers who have no ranged weapon at all? Mercenary Zwheihanders carrying a spear and an arbalest? Man hunter slaver line still not having a horse half the time and being about as tough as tissue paper. I appreciate a desire to have interesting names and that this is a work in progress but attempting to play this is like using a pin the tail on the donkey with army design.

Hate to be overly critical but its just such a shame with all the things that this mod offers that it suffers so greatly in these aspects.

I was playing the mod and noticed that nord butsecarls, lithman and viking have a habit of using up all of their ammo and end up without a weapon. In about 80 % of battles I played they were useless after about a minute or two. Consider giving them a melee weapon to witch they could switch. And, there are no quality middle eastern weapons. Make some, please. Oh, and consider removing jeweled sworda out of the mod. Two-handed wapons and polearms lose purpose once you acquire it.

Hey Soul,    N. E. is still my favorite Mod but...

I just tried "Europe 1200" and noticed something different that I think would make NE...even cooler.

From day One I was able to enter the Arena / "Pitfight" but with ALL MY OWN STUFF.  ie  my starting horse, sword and xbow.    In other words they GOT RID of the practice weapons and tunics.  As I progress and get new equipment I am also able to USE that stuff in the arena as well.  Of course I also notice that the "Waves" of opponents are also progressively better fighters and better equiped.

Would that be hard to implement in N.E.?

So for my suggestion.  Could N.E. do the same or something totally new like:

In addition to being able to use your own stuff:
Have different "Difficulty Levels" in the area or tourneyment depending on your level?  Or make it a choice like;

-Begginer arena fights  ( all the opponents are level 10 and under at random)

--Journeyman  fights      ( all the "  "  " 10- 20 at random)

---Pro  Fights  ( all the dudes are over 20)

----Dark Knight level Battles  (  basicall all the fighters are Bad Arse DK level)

I think there should Gradually more experience gained obviously if you can win in the DK arena you should get at least 10k.

I mean for peets sakes, you get 3k for just clearing out a Bandit encampment.

How difficult would it be to add hire-able independent mercenaries companies?

Like the mercenary warbands that travel around like bandits, but who you (and other lords) can hire?

In the context of the game, if the player character can be an impoverished noble hiring himself out, why couldn't there be other such people out there.

These companies could be headed by a named character who the player could have a rivalry with, or who could be a friend and ally.

Any thoughts?

Reduce the relationship loss when you dont give fiefs to somebody as king. It´s impossible to give something as simple as a village to a lord without making all the other lords angry at you, so it´s really hard to keep a steady relationship with every lord.

thats the tactic get a **** ton of villages/castles then dont rush at getting vassals just do like 1 per week (game time)
or else use TweakMB if this mod is too hard for you...

np did that too when i played this mod for the first 2 weeks xD than i noticed i made a big big mistake

Its a good mod, but without faction relation window and lord relation window from Diplomacy is very hard to play. These feature should be a priority IMHO.

I second this.  It doesn't have to be the same but creating a way to more easily view that information would be great.

Hello,

The mod is just awesome, I would only suggest 2 things:

- Castle are too easily taken. I perform better on a plain than in a castle with my army of Nords/Vaegirs. This seems unrealistic. Maybe spawn distance should be further? Ladder could not be already ready but had to be lifted up? (TBOD would also help to dispatch the soldiers correctly before the battle). The mod with 2 ladders is a good idea.
- Armies too easily wander in enemies territory. Something like virtual frontier should be established. Maybe more patrol with a small range of movement?

Thanks for the fun I had !

I suggest more diplomacy and family matters such as raising a child and him become the prince and such if that is possible you could marry daughters to vassals to try to sway them to join you kingdom.

Hello,

The mod is just awesome, I would suggests:

1) Integrate Diplomacy (+1  )
2) Integrate Custom Commander
3) Castle are too easily taken. This seems unrealistic.
- Maybe spawn distance should be further?
- Ladder could not be already ready but had to be lifted up? (PBOD would also help to dispatch the soldiers correctly before the battle).
- Maybe thicker wall so that units can easily move
- The mod with 2 ladders is a good idea.
4) Armies too easily wander in enemies territory.
- Something like virtual frontier should be established with more patrol on borders?  (same as  "Zone control for cities/villages to disallow armies to trespass")
5) Permanent execution of prisoner lords with high cost of honor.
6) Unique items should really be better than classic ones - or classic ones nerfed -. For instance, I think of the Geroian Sword granted after beating the Rhodok king, which is not better than a claymore.

Cheers

NE is the first 'good' modification I played.
It is challenging, quite intense and rich on interesting features and events.
In my opinion, the best modification after Prophesy of Pendor.

P.S.: I find it funny that Rhodoks, probably the weakest fraction in Native, are so strong in NE. Their heavy infantry excels pretty much in everything, suffering only from fast horse archers. Even dark knights fall when you have hundreds of these OP guys.

I realize that there is a TWEAK to get all jobs from a Lord but...

I hate having to run around, chase the lord down...ask him for  job(I'm hoping for Bandit removal)...then all he does is either say. NO, or some other silly request like can I borrow one of your companions.  That would be ok, except that i'd like to Counter Offer him a different job.

OR Mabe have a dialog option similar to when you are requesting ownership of a village or castle.

Something like:  "Can I convince you to give me a different job?"

Then a new conversation with different options would begin?

Is that doable?

In vanilla in Taverns you can find out when a lord from a faction wants a bandit lair destroyed or a rescue mission.

Yes that's true... but what i'm saying is, many times you can find the bandit camp ahead of time.  For example, lets say that I wanted to play as a Bandit hunter / Killer Merc?

I'd love to be able to bring up my discovery of thier lair to the lord in question.  Hence therefore get the XP and Denars that comes with doing the job of encampment removal.  Perhaps N.E.  would do a check based on my Persuation for me to even be able to speak to a lord about it?

For instance,  In NE Boyar Meriga is usally the lord of Rivacheg.  Many times it's easy to find the Sea Raiders camp.  But that dosn't always mean that He already knows about it.

For that matter another idea... How hard would it be for the game to Increase the difficulty of Bandit camps based on your level?

For example if you are from level 1-10 it's a standard camp.

If you were level 11-20... Then the camp would have better equiped guards and have a Captain or Tough Leader type like they do in PoP?

Over level 20?  haha, watch out...put some DK level hardness guys in the camps.

Then it wouldn't be as easy to do as you progressively get higher in level.
