Player Frustration

Also WHERE ARE THE HIGH LEVEL GEARS THAT ARE ALREADY INGAME? They could be hideously bugged on my system and my character, but I wouldn't know because I never got to see them and use them. You know, for testing......

I have gotten alot of the "hidden" gear so to speak from doing the "extortion missions in villages".
Often the high tier npc's will drop said loot.
So if you are after Battania gear, go to those villages, Sturgia for them etc.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but from my observation(aka not confirmed by other sources, just my observations) I find that alot of the higher tier gear come onto the vendors later in game.

What causes this I'm not 100% certain of, but I'm thinking its either the passing of time, and restocking of merch.
The other hypothesis I have is that it its tied into your clan's rank.

Personally I'd prefer that they had something like in Viking Conquest where you had the special vendors that sold epic gear for a "fair price" but it was an rng-chance(save-scume the snot out of it to get what you want in VC)

There seems to be a lack of communication for many things, the patches is a good point right now where it has been 3 weeks and we have no idea when the next one is. It's not that hard to give an eta.
From our perspective, TW has done something most companies around the world do NOT do. You are having us pay to test a product of yours that is not finished. Most companies give away a free product to people to help them test and report how to make it better

Nowadays these Early Access is the fisherman's lure and we all seem to be willing participants in it. The devs get to cash out early and surely it is built in to their overall business frame plan from the get go. Does it effect their motivation to continue to reach a bug free, fully fleshed out game? I dont know -but i do know that some more unscrupulous developers who i shant name put alot of production value into game trailers and when the EA is bought (under strict nda) you are very unpleasantly surprised on how much less a product you received than what was promised.
Some of us have been saying this for ages https://forums.taleworlds.com/index...even-taking-into-account-early-access.420243/

Early Access is exploitation of the gaming community.

We should however try to remember that the original M&B was one of the first 'EA' games and was actually considered one of the success stories that created that method of making games.

Without EA style concepts; M&B wouldn't exist...Not saying that makes the situation in bannerlord better or worse but its worth remembering.

Back when there was only two nations, mighty Zendar still stood and black knights roamed the land...

So by all means hate on EA; but remember Taleworlds was created by a man and his wife and a lot of luck, persuasion and passion (both from the community & dev's).

How could you leave out siege starting formations?! That grinds my gears the most.
How about Siege AI where your troops just cluster around a ladder staring at it. 1 or 2 go up and get slaughtered while the rest cluster at the bottom. Warband had this figured out, unsure why it is so difficult in the Bannerlord Engine.

Pretty much just have to cheat to make it a fair game as the AI is absolute garbage.

VC was one of the best games I've ever played, hands down. 900+ hours on that game.

What has how Taleworld started got to do with what Taleworlds is doing now with Bannerlord? Ae you really trying to play the heartstrings spiel in order t generate sympathy for them? We should just care just care about the game we paid for that is in a terrible state and that people are paying to be glorified BETA testers for.

Well honestly the game isn't broken or terrible like some people make it sound like. However that being said, I can't help but feel they could've done so much more with it. It really just boils down to dissapointment and wasted potential and yes they have worked 8+ years on it and yes they had all sorts of trouble through development, and we can argue all day how it's even possible to mess up the development of a sequel to an already succesful game but that won't change the situation going forward.

What does frustrate me a bit is Bannerlord has been a huge financial succes (as well as getting good reviews), and what have they done with this? Absolutely nothing... They announce the Kingdom creation button like it's a major thing when in reality doing these things doesn't take more than a couple of hours at max for 1 guy (I have been working with game development for a couple of years, so I actually know this). This game could've been the breakthrough for TW to become an AAA developer, but instead it feels like TW doesn't have a plan at all and only 5-10 of the developers are actually doing something.

I was wishing for a Co-op campaign since even before Warband was released, now I'd be positively surprised if we even get deeper politics and relationships.

Nah, i'm just a hardcore realist. I paid money for an early access title fully knowing what it might be, i expect nothing. Buying an early access title means you are pissing in the wind by default, if it works out then good but you are owed nothing. Devs could stop working on it right now and there's **** all i could do about it because i'm the one who whipped my **** out during the storm.
All true but one thing - you have paid so you are owed. Doesn't mean it will be repaid to you, but you are owed.

The game play aside from fighting in battles lacks any kind of depth whatsoever. For a game with this amount of time to formulate ideas its staggering TW couldn't come up with anything deeper. I look at some of the mods for M&B made by one man teams and I am not understanding what is going on here?

Its hard for me to understand people upset with full price EA (they discounted it twice for people who played M&B) when companies let you pre-order games for trash ingame rewards/"beta" access. The difference between EA and pre-ordering is you get to actually play the unfinished state. How many games today let you pre-order to get access to the "beta" which is actually just a stress test for their servers before they launch and not an actual beta for core feedback. Then release it in a **** state, i can name several triple A companies releasing games destroyed by the community, games that could have been helped with an actual EA opportunity like TW is providing us. I don't know about yall but id rather get EA then pre-order/"beta" we mostly get these days.

My point is hating on EA is a little ironic when the game (Bannerlord or Warband) wouldn't exist at all without EA of original M&B...

There are clearly a lot of people that have not been a part of early access projects before. Also, to the OP. almost EVERY company is getting into early access so please skip the righteous "companies don't treat players bad" routine because it isn't what is happening here.

First things first, no one forced you to by an early access product. You all chose to be here of your own free will.

Secondly, just like with other projects most of you are probably suffering from a little bit of obsession and burnout. I get it, we all LOVE Mount & Blade and want to play the newest game and want this game to be awesome. But it isn't going to happen overnight and crying about "8 years though!" isn't going to make them release a patch tomorrow. In fact, threads like these do the one thing we are all afraid of most and that is scaring off potential new players.

Compared to other early access games like Squad or Escape from Tarkov, Bannerlords is doing just fine. It doesn't randomly crash and it looks a great deal better than its predecessors.

Remember, the main point of an early access forum is not to complain that the game is broken or isn't being completed fast enough. It is to find broken things that slip through the cracks but to also provide first hand feedback on what works, what doesn't, and how things should progress forward to make it all come together.

So if you are frustrated and you have played this game for more hours that I work in a week (I'm joking) then take a break and come back to scratch the itch and see what has changed every so often. I've been there with you on other projects. So keep an eye on it but don't get upset over something you can't change.

Like EA, Activision/Blizzard, Ubisoft, CD Project, Naughty Dog, Square Enix, 2k, Paradox, Rockstar and so on?

And how many EA games are sold for 50 Eur?

Small Indie devs use EA and sell their games for 10-20 Eur...

I agree with alot of the things you say.

But the problem though for alot of players to deal with is that they feel it should have been in a much more finished state than it is.
We're not talking about the random crash/lagspikes/bugs that one should expect, but the "core mechanics" not being fully in place or that they get worse(ref. endless war for instance)(which in all honest causes the game to get tedious at times(you may not agree but some of us players feel that "its too much" vs how it was in Warband where you could go from the frontline to dump your inventory, and not get back and 50% of the kingdome had been lost.

We feel that its not "Early acess" but beta, and one can argue about semantics etc etc.
Given that there isnt a "true standard" in the industry of what Early Acess means vs paid beta, I think if they had just called it paid beta, ppl would be irking about paying for beta, but wouldnt ***** so hard about the issues that is going on.

Again I'm loveing it, but do get frustrated and understand well why others do.

You may not feel it, and thats ok, since feelings is a subjective experience there is no objective truth.

Again if I had known now how the game is today, I'd prolly hold of my money and not purchased it in the state it is(I'm semi-loosing abit of faith in the devs and their direction/priority of what to fix/and how they celebrate useless features that is convenient but have no real effect(todays vid on fief/party managment etc)(my opinion yours may differ and thats ok)

Damn I misread the thread's title, I thought it said players frustration of players (complaining or so I assumed).

Walks back out again disappointed!

:'(

Honesty the ladder thing is so obnoxious I wonder if it's intentional to try to force us to bring down the walls with the siege weapons.
"Nobody's gonna sit on the map building those..." "oh yeah? How bout now?""Oh wow you're good at this stuff, go improve the economy next!"

It's comical fire squading the enemy as they keep trying to push the ladders down though......

Whatever why aren't you spending your real time doing some real things and not telling people not to complain about a game you're too real to complain about? I'm playing it because I want to. I bought it because I wanted it. I'm complaining because I want changes to be made. Saying oh these 1/2 working mechanics are good enough isn't real and isn't going to encourage work to be out into improving it. If you feel powerless to anything that's your problem. Owe or not if someone want's something from a person with your attitude they'll just take it.

Is that the extortion by deserters mission? That's interesting, I 've seen higher tier enemies in those but are lord named npcs too?

Yes I've had several cool drops from the Extortion missions.
Like the Sturgia lord helmets I've never seen for sale(Pointed nord lord helmet with feather)(never seen it for sale in any of the versions).
I also got, the heavy armor type the Sturgian veteran warriors also use(I dont have it on the save I'm on now though so I dont recall the name).

I cant say for sure if it was from this mission, or if it was from a battle with Aserai troops, but I do have a Noble bow aswell, its cracked but its stats are the same as the normal one(should you want to buy one ingame -> marry Zlatka)(Since some patches ago I've never seen it for sale anymore and its imo the best bow out there.

Also if you want the "honest trait", when they offer you cash for the mission, give it fully to the npc in the village, and you'll after haveing done enough get the trait aswell(the effect is not much though, its +2 for honest characters and -2 for devious)

Why... in every one of these threads... is there some new recruit who joined a couple days ago telling everyone to "quit playing and don't speak if you don't like it!!"

Like... in every single thread lol
