Player: Captured!

Users who are viewing this thread

I've been thinking about what happens after your player character is defeated in battle. Some have suggested death, an end game, or a decrease in levels. I think that it would be an interesting (and fun) addition to gameplay if the player character could be captured.

This means that the player's party could continue, perhaps with a priority of rescuing the player. The player can also have the option of attempting an escape. If the attempt fails, the player can continue to try, with each sucessive attempt resulting in a lower starting health and more challenging settings. These escape attempts can happen in a "camp" setting, with the "Your Baggage" bag in a random tent. The player character would have to get to the tent to retreive his weapons and armor without being seen (or some other challenge), and then fight his way to a specific point in order to retreat. If the player went to the "escape point" without retrieving his belongings, he would lose them.

There is also the possibility that a war party, patrol, scavengers, or even caravans can take you to a city where you will be held in a prison, or sold as a slave . . . and I don't know where that would go. There are many possibilities that would fit with this idea, though.

thats impossible right now...

simply because theres no stealth in this game... enemys know right where you are...

try looking at my post on stealth it should be on this page or the 2nd one

Well, stealth is all well and good - but not the focal point of my suggestion. If stealth or sneaking is impossible, then a mad dash to the tent or any other appropriate challenge can take its place. The point is really just being captured as a possible consequence (not happening 100% of the time) of being defeated in battle.

I'm a strong advocate of that feature. At present, the character's progression, although free-form, doesn't really form an interesting and unique story.

Look at these threads. Pay attention to my posts because they're generally more relevant. (and also because the world revolves around me almost as much as it does Pavlov)
