Planning a Warhammer Mod: Looking for advice

Hello there everyone. I know there's a Warhammer mod under development based on the War of the Ostermark, yet at the same time I've been interested in creating a Fantasy mod for awhile. So far, I've been fooling around with some of the aspects of M&B, and am able to make sense of the dialog system, triggers, etc. That said, I am looking for advice regarding my next steps, or how to build assorted items.

-I know some mods allow for really elaborate items; the Damocles mod in particular had a Strategic map as did Fire Arrow: Become an Inferno. Are there any tutorials on how to build a functional interface such as this? I remember being able to search the code for cardgames as well.
-Likewise are there any tutorials on building a magic system? I know there was a spellcasting mod awhile back, as well as the unique powers in Expanded Gameplay 3.

Mod-wise, the tenative title is Warhammer - Outlaw King, and would take place in the Border Princes, the lawless frontier that borders Tilea, Bretonnia, the Grey Mountains, and the Empire. Here, the premise would be that the player is either an exiled noble, a member of the Free Traders, an exiled Hedge Wizard, or an Arabyan mercenary. Or some other variants thereof. I'm wondering whether to put a central quest in it or not, as well. Perhaps base it off Shadow of the Horned Rat. That said, a good deal of the game would focus on making it big in the Border Princes, and becoming your own ruler, with neutral towns up for conquest, and easier to take compared with the established forces of the other major powers.

I'm not really trying to bring you down or anything, but making the exact same mod that someone else is kind-of silly. Of course that didn't stop the two Star Wars mods, but rather than have two mods some content why not work together instead, so you have one mod with a bunch of content? Regardless of all that though, what exactly can you do at this point?

Edit : Tintin, god you have to be one of the worst spammers on this damned site.

I agree, on both accounts.

You should try to help those in development instead.

none of that really means anything to me really. I just play on it for fun not for the story

You havent heard of Warhammer? As in pre-40k?
i have heard of warhammer pre-40k it's just i don't follow the stories of things. I've got 'Mark of Chaos' but i don't follow the story. Thats pre-40k if i'm right

Wow, I can't believe it. Tintin doesn't read? I know I'm shocked.
I read all the time. About two hours in the morning and 2 at night

Austupaio 说:
Well they're not exactly hard to tell apart, there's either Bolters and Aliens, or there's not.
i never said i couldn't tell them apart. I just couldn't tell from the description as i know nothing of the stories of either warhammers

You should offer to pick up where the warhammer mod has left off. They have quite a bit of work done, from what i gathered most of what was needed is coding the actual mod, many of the models and stuff are well on the way. Suely that is easier then starting all over again.

Ok. Thanks for the advice everyone. I suppose if anybody wishes to contact me, you can reach me either here or at [email protected].

-What is the other mod in question? I recall one of the mods was supposed to take place in the Ostermark (the most north-eastern regions of The Empire) while mine wanted to take place southwest of the Empire, northwest of Tilea, northeast of Bretonnia...where was the other mod again?
-Who do I contact?

yep thats the one, i believe Ursca and Arch were the main guys, if you wanted to ask them any questions.

side note: although it is not mentioned on first page, they also have about 60% soundtrack finished. I stopped working on it when the mod went silent. If it comes to life again, l will be redoing it anyway as my studio is a lot better equipped these days.
