Piratesesque support characters

Someone mentioned something similar to this once but I was thinking about it some more. It would be very cool to have support characters. Examples would be cooks that improve the morale of your food further, or trainers that increase the xp bonus of training. There are many, many options. Now a good way to make the rpg elements of choice involved is to either have a seperate column of 5 or so slots, or have these specialists be inventory items that would slow down your group and reduce your carrying capacity. If the devs think this is a good idea, I am sure we can have this thread morph into a development of specialists idea thread.

Yeah, i think its a good idea. They had a very similar feature in Sea Dogs, among other games i'm sure. It would be nice if i had my own "officers" that boosted my personal skills a little, or something of that nature.

1 Weaponsmith - 5% or 10% increase in damage dealt by you and your troops

2 Armorsmith - 5% or 10% damage soak or increase in armor values

3 Horse Trainer - 10% to 20% increase in horse hps possible boost of horse stats by one each

4 Squire - 5% boost to damage and armor

5 Bow Master - Incrase bow damage by 10-20%

6 Sargeant - Increase of leadership by 2 points

7 Surgeon - Increase surgery and first aid by 1 or 2 points

Anyway, those are a few of my ideas I am sure I will think of some more and I am even more sure that many of you will think of more feel free to add them to my list. Of course only allowing 1 of each or a set total would be needed for balancing purposes.

Ah, cr@p! Don't you hate it when you create a new topic 5 minutes before finding the exact same thing? Oh well if anyone's interested in my ideas for Bannere men it's on page 24, I think.

For this idea to work:

-Either all of these would have to be extremely expensive, or money must become much, much, much harder to come by. I could see the game getting very easy very quickly.

-They should fill up the capacity provided by your leadership skill, so you have to choose between having a bigger unsupported army or a smaller more effective army (which won't make a difference until we can have more units on the field)

-You must be able to use them in combat.
