I never had a problem with them later in the game when usually your running around with a minimum of 150 troops, for me usually i'm running with 300 to 400 later in the game, because I am trying to get them all trained up. But I started a new game the other night, to try and play as an evil character, with horrible honor. Basically like a raider / pirate. And part of that is having a small but elite army , say 60 or so? However right away I noticed even with the most elite guys I can get, I cant take out half as many pirates, it is a bit unbalanced in my opinion. I imported my character with 38 strength, and its still taking me 3 hits or so with a double handed axe to kill one pirate.
Do you know what is the best sollution for your raider game?
Solo Frank and Dena parties, and recruit the prisoners to your party. Soon, you will have 30-40 pirates under your command, which is cool!
Soloing them:
- horse, some armor, shield, and a long reach sword (or maybe spear)
- circle around them until they are out of javelins
- and take the stray ones out one by one
- when their morale fails and they are routing, rampage, take out as much as you can
A healthy force of 30-40 pirates and 10 companions is all you need to have some fun.
EDIT:
Also, if you fight them with an army, with superior numbers, split your troops. Like group1 is left wing, group2 is right wing.
Throw one group at them, while the other is on 'follow me command' and lead that group to their backs
EDIT2: please Idibil, don't une down pirates, they are the best in game
