Piercing Bolts

Hey...
I've got another idea
since crossbows can fire bolts with incredible power, I think
it would be awsome to make the bolts pierce right through the enemies.. and of course friendly troops, when u hit them.
would this be possible?

yea well with the power the crossbows now have it would be just stupid
but in some mod there were arbalests and they sounded really powerful

You mean like a high-powered rifle round going through people?
No, there's simply not enough velocity from the bolt, not to mention it's a lot bigger and easier to get caught than a bullet.

No, there's simply not enough velocity from the bolt, not to mention it's a lot bigger and easier to get caught than a bullet.

Not to mention that the entire point of the design of many bolts and arrows was to make them stick in the enemy and be as hard to extricate as possible. If they simply passed right through they wouldn't be half as lethal.

Man-portable crossbows weren't powerful enough to go through people in those days, unless they had a windlass in which case they could only be loosed once a minute or so.
