Hey, guys. Can we do a quick show of hands for the current pickup party admins that currently participate or intend to participate in the near future? (*raises hand*)
I'm concerned about the reports of pickup parties going haywire in the BkS clan thread. If it's true, we gotta step it up, guys. Maybe recruit some more admins.

Due to the fact that Pom server was depleted because someone called a pickup party. I'm afraid this group must now disband. Playing on Pom is far superior than grouping together in an spontaneous event where we talk to each other and get to know other players from different clans. To be honest, I don't want to talk to anyone that is not in my clan. I will pub on Pom and talk to rebels only. Do not destroy the high quality of play that is pubbing for some random ass semi-organized get together. **** Tyrone.

Levels of warband seriousness (#5 being most serious)
1.Pubbing
2.Pickup parties
3.Pickup
4.scrim
5.Tournament match
Pickup parties is just Pom play with chosen teams and everyone is in voice chat. It has always been more fun than regular Pom play so I don't see the problem. Sure, some people may not want to participate. Sorry if you don't like where we move the game.
You could say "well, you destroyed the main battle population." You could also argue that the battle population gets destroyed whenever two stacking clans decide to leave Pom and go scrim. So pickup scrims are ok to destroy the population but pickup parties are not? Is that more important since they are doing a pickup scrim? Well, maybe, still it empties a server either way and nobody counts pickups as a real victory. I fail to see how a practice match is so much more relevant than a social event in this instance.
I also understand the argument that you could do a decent pickup scrim against another clan instead of doing a party. I think the reason pickup parties go through a lot of times is that clans simply don't have enough team mates on at the time.
As ****ed up as pickup parties are, they are still often better played and more fun than your typical night on Pom.

It's one thing to deplete the population for a tournament match, that makes sense because you're actually playing a tournament match.
You yourself said that a pick-up party is "just pom play," so why the **** do you need to leave the pub server to pub on TS?

Not that I'm a part of the NA community (though I do on rare occasion play on POM), but what Rhade's saying makes sense. If you want to just mess around with mostly competitive players and have fun, then sure, go have your pickup parties on a passworded server. If you want to include and inspire public players to take part in an organized fight, do them on POM. (Then again, because you have rules POM ain't the perfect place, because people playing there are used to being able to act like ****wits without repercussions.)
... Aren't tournaments made to satisfy the tastes of those skilled players who wish to test their in-game skills in a competitive scene since they are bored in casual pub play?
I mean... it's not like these tournaments are anything close to professional in the first place, they obviously aren't for making money, that's for sure. They are for fun... I don't see any other reason for entering one or even playing this game if fun isn't the major factor moving you as there is no money or reward to be collected from doing anything in this game.
You enter a tournament because it is more difficult and challenging than pub play. That difficulty and challenge are what can potentially create fun for you, which is why you want to be in a tournament, no one forces you to be in it.
Well that is the same thing pickup parties are but to a lesser degree. They are easier than tournament matches yet, but they are also not as easy as pub play. Also that extra organization can make everything much better. In a pickup party, you do not have to worry about AFK's wasting player slots or people tking at spawn all the time. BOTH teams are organized and have an actual goal to beat the other team, and not just to run around individually like most do in pubs (including myself). There are basic rules to follow while POM HAS NONE.

Having taken part in a couple of pickups myself, I must say I quite enjoy them.
Allows me as an outsider of the NA community to get to know you guys, don't they bring the community closer, they get some diversity in regular pub play.
For me pickups are very different than POM, sometimes it's coordinated and almost in a match setting (with smaller numbers) and other times (the less fun pickups) it's just not so coordinated pub play but you can still laugh on ts with your teammates.

Because it is more like a scrim and less like pub play. Also it is more social and you get to know new players a lot more than you do in Pom.Rhade 说:

PP's usually have little cohesion (just like Pom) but the difference is that we are all enjoying playing together in voice chat as a community and that makes all the difference. Are they awesome scrims? usually never, but neither is Pom. Probably the main factor is that we are hanging out together and having a good time.
Bad pickup parties are POM play, and they usually fizzle out. Good pickup parties are very different than POM and many people have become accustomed to it.
As always, pickup parties are completely open to the public.
