Done this on another forum, and is usually works quite well. Basically, I set a topic, and you go out and take a picture that relates to or features that topic. After you submit your picture, everyone votes, and the winner sets the next topic. I thought it might be worth trialling it here, and see how we get on.
Here's a few rules for you. Everybody likes rules.
1) Only ONE ENTRY per person. Once a photo has been entered, it cannot be changed. Changing your work = immediate disqualification.
Just a reminder, we already have a general photographs thread. To keep this thread clean and easily manageable for whoever's making the voting thread, "extra" photographs should be posted there but can be linked to here.
2) No editing, other than changing the size/file type. This means no Photoshopping, no altering of the contrast, brightness or sharpness, unless you have altered these settings manually on your camera to produce a different exposure/effect. However, as many cameras allow photo-noir, I will allow people to convert, using an image editor, their photo to greyscale, if they wish. This is the extent of editing allowed.
3) The person who sets the topic cannot partake in that round, they must sit it out.
4) The photo you enter must be taken by yourself. No pics grabbed from the internet allowed, no pics taken by other people allowed. It must be your picture. Using somebody else's picture is cheating, and grounds for immediate disqualification. Repeat offenders will be banned from entering for several rounds.
5) As per the poll dated 6/11/12, it has been agreed by the majority of current contestants and viewers that HDR should not be allowed in the photo contest. All pictures should be original single images, and not created of composite images, even if the camera taking the images has this facility. In addition, no after-image editing should be done on a camera, including, but not limited to, colour correction, RGB channels, editing of sharpness/contrast -- the only editing allowed is the pre-selection of effects prior to the picture being taken.
Submit your entries in this thread. Once three entries have been submitted, the voting thread will be created on the next available Saturday. Other contestants may still submit pictures until then. Once the voting is over, the results will be collated and the winner will set the next topic.
