Persuasion

So I've been trying to persuade Swadian's to join the rebels, but I've only been able to get 2 so far and the others are all stuck on the "Let's not talk about politics anymore" crap. Do you ever get a chance to persuade them again? Because I can't win the war with only two lords - and one is extremely pissed at me because I took Praven for myself twice when he had nothing, but then I gave him a castle and it only reduced his hatred by 5... wtf is that.

Also, about how much persuasion is needed to get these guys to defect? I have 5 now and it doesn't do crap. I save and reload going through all the choices and they still won't join me, and if I go ahead with the conversation, he gets locked in a perpetual "dont want to talk" mood.

Is there maybe a cheat or something to increase someone's relation towards you? Because it's really effin lame that that one guy is so far in the hole.

Persuasion helps, but you really need to establish good relations with them prior to rebelling. They also understand that a town is a better fief than a village or castle, so if you've awarded yourself a town twice, they're not going to be fobbed off with a token castle :P

AFAIK you get one chance to persuade them to change sides. If you fail, you need to fight them. Though you don't need to persuade them all, in fact it's more lucrative for you to conquer everything, give your claimant a token village and keep the rest for yourself. Hard, but possible.

What happened was that, when I started the war, I took the castle back behind Praven and behind the sea, since it seemed like a place far away from all the action that was going on as Swadia was at war with 2-3 other nations at the time - it was just going bad for them, they actually lost 3 castles. Anyway, I tried going for the castle nearby, but that wasn't going to be easy because I needed to build a siege tower, and by the time that would get finished, I would get swarmed and have to fight a bunch of people and eventually retreat.

So, I went for another castle near the Nord's or whatever. By this time I had two guys on my side, the first was Rafard I think, and the second was Plais - I take the castle and give it to Plais. Since I'm basically doing all the work and needed money to keep the war going, I went for Praven and conquered it, and subsequently gave it to myself (so now I had 1 castle, like 4 or 5 villages and a town). Soon as I did that though, Rafard dropped from 0 to -35. Praven got swarmed later and I lost it, but they left a crappy crew defending it, so I took it back for myself again - this dropped Rafard to -50.

So, I was thinking he just wanted something for himself - understandable. I went and took another castle and gave it to him and all he gets is +5, so now he's at -45.

Basically, I need a cheat to get this guy back to 0 - because that was really lame of him. =/ If all he's going to do is run around with 20 men and not help me, then why should I be in a hurry to give him stuff? I was going to eventually, but it just wasn't his time.

It's actually looking like I'll be taking it over myself, but this is a hard battle. Every time I go try and take something, they swarm on one of my towns with 500 people. Another guy wanted to defect, but I neglected to ask him because he would defect with Suno and I wanted to give that to the queen (Isolla of Suno, I think? Makes sense to me).
