So I owned the beta and just bought the final version. I want to play an archer with 2 quivers and a sword. I'm not going to take a lot of group stuff. I want to max my combat skills and depend on my heroes to buff the party. I may take training off the bat, does any one know if training effects heroes?

Any way, I know I need strength for power draw, how high do I need to go? Just high enough to use the best bow? How much should I invest in dex.? Is it as important as strength? If I ignore intelligence and charisma will my heroes be able to hold a descent army?

So weapon master, athleticism, power draw and horse archery for field combat, any other suggestions?

Just cheat, I cheat alot with your weapon combo. It is so fun, I put everything to 200 (except agility because then you run faster than the horses ) and basically go on a one woman killing spree.

Although when I play and work my way up I find that the archer with two quivers is hard because it's imposible to block yourself from ranged and melee attacks.

you're gonna need about 7 powerdraw or something to use the masterworked war bow, and you might need some athletics to run, unless you're a horse archer.

training skill does affect the heroes if the trainer is higher level then the heroes

Well if you want the last damage percent to your ranged attack you could go to 10 in archery. but 7 for the last bow is also pretty good. you will need 30 points in strength to get all 10 points in power draw. but strength is very nice as it gives you HP and the option to get power strike & Iron flesh. There is no need to get Running speed up more than 4 or 5 IMO. maybe 6 (I go for the Champion War horse) so that will give you the opportunity to get 6 points in Speed. for that you will need 18 points in Agility.  I mostly use a combination of Heavy Horse, Shield, Sword and lance in open field and Twohanded sword + 2 Quivers and a bow for sieges. sometimes bow & arrows in open field but then horse archery is nice to have.

Charisma gives you the Leadership which gives you +1 to maximum party size for every Charisma point spent and +5 for every point in Leadership. Renown also adds to party size. But leadership also helps for morale to the party and is pretty important if you max out your party size. Also the more food you carry with you the better the morale of the party.

Hopes this helps

You'll generally want 3 more power draw than the requirement so you have maximum accuracy for the bow.
