Persistent modules?

Okay, so I've been reading a bit on these Persistent mods subforums and I still don't really understand how they work and what they offer. It would be nice to switch from the old good Full Invasion 2 to some other multiplayer modifications, but I need to find a good alternative. Bought the game not so long ago, so I'd be happy if somebody led me through these.

Persistent modules consists out of multiple kinds of mods, cRPG basically mean that you make 1 character and start from level 1, you gain levels on this characters while playing online and you can buy equipement.

You also have persistent world which doesn't really involve leveling, but you can join factions, hold keeps and do some extensive roleplaying.

This is all out of the top of my head, I'm not really into all this persistent stuff.

Well, Persistent World wasn't designed to be a Roleplay mod, however a lot of players concider it as one.
It's pretty fun, if you like games such as Elder Scrolls, but with the Warband fighting system, which is a cool combination.

Really? Oh that's really nice! I didn't think M&B has these capabilities. Cheers, lads!

I've played Persistent World for a while and I think the current online population is still high enough for a fun time.
Be sure to check which server though, some players tend to ignore the roleplaying aspect.
I quit Persistent World,  because either the map got LOTR focussed or several regular players only-and-only played as 'robbers', who were terrible at RP'ing and exploiting the server rules to the maximum. (ie. they provoke a lot and kill as soon as they see fit, whine as soon as they get killed after provoking)

Basically this mod remembers your current class/gear (servers do restart once in a while though) and you got a real persistent banking system, which uses a MySQL connection (I believe) to store/retrieve gold amounts.

cRPG also stores skills and such, but I never got into cRPG, so someone else could tell you about this.

NordInvasion also stores skills and such to be persistent, but that's a co-op mod.

I'm sure there are more out there, but these are the ones I know.. and are active
