Perisno Version 0.81 - The Main Thread (HF0.811 - March 11, 2017, 10:37:18 AM)

I thought I had the hotfix installed. Turns out, it was an earlier hotfix. There we go, I suppose.

I didn't realise I hadn't installed the hotfix until I noticed that the hire all and garrison all/ungarrison all troops/prisoners commands didn't work when I tried to use them. Now they do... AND THE GAME IS AMAZING AGAIN! Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to manually garrison and ungarrison 600 men? To hire 200 men of 26 different unit types after a battle? These hotkeys are amazing!

I wasn't too excited about the bow nerf, and was glum when I saw that I was doing only 45-70% of my previous damage on highly armoured targets. I couldn't kill Kaiserliche Drachen Marksmen in one body shot any more, and if I didn't pull the bow all the way back I sometimes wasn't one-hit-killing Drachenritters even with headshots.

...But as it turns out, the bow nerf may be working in my favour right now even though I use bows exclusively. Because enemy archers do less damage to me as well, and I'm wearing a LOT of armour.

- I can still kill in one shot with the Strong Perisno Flatbow... as long as I bother to aim instead of firing indiscriminately into the crowd.
- Kaiserliche archers don't do painful damage to me with headshots anymore, it's more like 40 damage from a headshot instead of 75 damage.
- Archer damage was the main thing stopping me from going on rampages with the Highelf Sword. Now I can go into melee more, and worry less about getting perforated by archers. Thanks Leo!
- The Maccavians are already eliminated so I don't have to deal with the horrifying menace of Maccavian Heavy Marksmen with armour penetration bonuses on their Bladed Crossbows.

EDIT - Finished off Voldeburg. It's a shame the game doesn't keep track of how many people you kill in sieges. I used both of my quivers of arrows, then restocked from allies/enemies alike about seven or eight times, and then when I had the opportunity I managed to flank a huge ball of Drachen Landsknechts and just keep hitting them from behind with the Highelf Sword.

There's nothing like these sieges in terms of leveling up FAST. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that I needed nearly 600,000 exp to go from level 43-44. Turns out that you can get 100,000 exp from one good siege if you have the equipment you need, so that's awesome.

... Reaching level 50 is still going to take an atrociously long time (20 million exp total) and I'll probably run out of stuff to attack. I'll probably have to take Solaire into the second playthrough on Hard Mode. It sounds like the Zann will spawn even more units in Hard Mode, so that's nice.

as defender you can get even better bonus:

with right spot and plenty of bolts (using dwarfen x-bow) you can kill a lot, also this castle is very nice to defend, as there is a spot near a bridge to chop attackers down

They just seem to always get curb stomped by everything. I mean in one of my recent games they got wiped out in the first three months by Drahara. I just don't feel like their units are very strong. Sut Chieftains and raiders do serious work where as Slaveherders just get decimated. The only unit that always catches me off guard is a skull shooter arrow catching my face besides that I think the Sut unit lines are better.  It might because of their lack of shields on units besides their ranged units.

Yeah, one of my playthrough is being a Bakhal vassal... We lost the castle and barely held the city from the Reich armies. I agree that their elite units lack a lot. There was a post by Leonion about bringing in full plate armor (from Warsword) for Giants, that would fit really well for elite/household troops.

I think that giants, as a whole, need both polish and balance.  This includes better support for a player giant character.  As it is now, all equipment interferes with combat in both first and third person, and makes absolutely no sense, stat wise, as in a sword that out weight 99% of other swords by an order of magnitude, but has similar damage.

If it were up to me, I would make giant equipment require much higher strength, but also be significantly more powerful than human sized equipment that weights five times less.  Also, giants need high end armor that does not look retarded.  It's easy to throw in some fluff about them hiring a dwarven or human smith, and add a model that does not hide 50% (or more!) of the screen.

Oh sweet. Hotfix works a charm. Adventurers guild works. Now I can "adventure" in an official capacity. YES!  Sorry to hear your bow has been nerfed Talinoth. I feel real clever now for being too lazy to use a ranged weapon. All that aiming and firing... just seems like a big effort.

Yes. You need 0.81 and then 0.811 hotfix.
Ignore internal file names. Moddb renames the archives.
Only pay attention to titles.

Okay, thanks for the quick reply. By the way, is there a chance we could get information on character creation bonuses?

Should be up-to-date.
Look to the right of the first main table in Perisno tab.

Really looking forward to the 0.82 Dwarves expansion. My wishlist would be a new dwarven companion, a dwarf specific quest, or maybe a powerful throwing hammer that requires a lot of strength to use.

Still loving Perisno after 800 days in game. Gonna send you a donation if I can figure out where to do it.

Yeah, Elephants don't seem to collide properly with infantry and cavalry, which can be a both a good and a bad thing.

The height of a mount and where the rider is seated can have weird implications when fighting massed blobs of infantry and other cavalry, in terms of both hitboxes and range advantages/disadvantages.

We'll use a normal horse as a baseline example. Let's take a look at short mounts like wolves or tigers in comparison;

Lower seat (Wolves):
- Easier to hit infantry/archers, allows you to use shorter weapons like 60-80 range maces more effectively
- Harder to hit enemy cavalry, height disadvantage is a pain in the ass.
- The rider is exposed - attacks are more likely to hit the rider than the mount.

Now let's take a look at mounts with slightly higher seats, like Wyverns.

Higher seat (Wyverns):
- Harder to hit infantry/archers, 90 range or more is preferred.
- Easier to hit enemy cavalry, you have a slight height advantage that allows your weapon to swing down and hit people riding next to you more easily.
- Hitboxing - Wyverns seem to be able to sometimes phase through enemy horses when approaching from the side (strange hitboxing?) which can be an advantage when a pack of enemy knights tries to surround you. Wyverns don't always collide with enemy infantry either depending on the approach angle. Could be used to your advantage - charge through a pack of infantry at full speed instead of getting bogged down? It's inconsistent though.
- Rider has height protection - enemy infantry will struggle to hit you instead of the tanky Wyvern.
- Then again, Wyverns are big targets and take a lot of arrowfire, which doesn't mix well with my style of play. Your mileage may vary.

Now, let's take a look at something much taller again - an elephant.

Very tall seat (Elephants):
- Almost impossible to hit ground troops with melee weapons. You'll need to be riding UP a hill, and using a very long lance. A Knight Lord's Lance or a Cavalier's Lance (266 range) should work for this task. Maybe.
- Harder to hit enemy cavalry with melee weapons - you're up so high. A Knight Lord's Lance might work.
- Hitboxing - Elephants phase through ALL infantry and cavalry. You can simply run straight through them. An elephant can still be brought down by melee attacks from enemy cavalry through, and they're not very fast, so don't get isolated.
- Height protection - Melee units may be able to hit the elephant - maybe - but they can't hit you at all. I can personally only hit elephant riders when I jump with the horse at the same time I'm stabbing with the Knight Lord's Lance. Take note - you stick out like a sore thumb and you're really exposed to archer fire.
- An elephant is a HUGE, SLOW target, and while it's tanky and makes a hilariously fun archery platform (sit on a hill, and you have a sniper platform that allows you to pick off entire formations of enemy archers at your leisure) it's hardly what you want to be riding on while being encircled by a bunch of angry Drachenritters, and it does expose you to a deceptively large amount of enemy ranged fire.

EDIT - All in all, I still end up preferring horses.

I started a new game again just to be sure that the fixes are working. Man, I'm really enjoying this mod with my Kaiserliche Cavalry!

Just one bug noticed so far: After declining a random quest from a town's Guild Master (when appears the button instead of "Do you have new tasks" - "About the job") this button does not disappear and when you click on it again a few weeks later - a few script errors with red colour are appearing on the screen. And after that when you officialy decline the bugged quest - a new script errors with red colour are appearing.

Also this (the dead giants have a bug):

I'm eagerly waiting for Perisno 0.8.2 and if you ask me - to save your time exclude PBOD from the next version entirely.

Stretchy limbs? I always had that problem when fighting those goddamn Elintor.

Whenever I'd try to sneak into Lille or Forniron (and GOD is that hard, Elintoran Riders are MUCH stronger town guards than the guards of other factions), even when I managed to knock out a Rider or two, their arms would go super stretchy and I wasn't able to pick up their swords. Of course, this was extremely frustrating (those 1h/2h swords they use are longer than the normal wooden staff) and I had to turn off ragdolling.

Now you get a long farming scythe to kill everyone with, which makes things a hell of a lot easier.

Hey, I have a problem , I cant put money in my treasury because I have a laptop,It doesn't have numpads, but also the arrows don't work, it's a hp laptop, how do I fix this?

Leonion 说:
Oh...what keys does your laptop have?
Give me a model name or a picture of it...

I cant put any links, the forum does not allow it,but search hp pavilion g6 keyboard and the first one that appears is the right one.

Alright, in mission_templates.txt find mst_visit_town_castle.
Then under it find
0.000000 0.000000 0.000000  2 1073741895 1 79 71 1 200
0.000000 0.000000 0.000000  2 1073741895 1 80 71 1 208
0.000000 0.000000 0.000000  2 1073741895 1 81 71 1 205
Turn 79, 80 and 81 (or 200, 208 and 205) into 22, 36 and 37 respectively.
It will rebind keys to u, j and k as up, down and right (add, take, switch the mode) respectively.
