Performance Issues

Sorry, if there might be a similar Topic, but I have some specific questions which were not easy to find:#

My specifications:

Core2Duo E6400
2 GB Ram
Radeon 1950XT
Steam(I have read somewhere that this can cause troubles)

Actually not so bad but 150 sized battles are not playable as the droprates goes down like hell. But only when it comes to melee. Ranged combat is no problem and all works fluently.
Is my system too slow for 150 battle? Are there some possibilities which I might do to improve performance?
Reinstall without steam?

There is another issue which is not so troublesome but annoying. When I speak to persons reactions may take up to ~6 seconds. But not always.

I would be glad to get some tips. Playing with an 80 sized battle does not make as much fun with 150 size. Furthermore 80 size battles also do not work 100% fluently...

I do not want to believe my PC is too weak
Which hardware is essential for playing fluently?(CPU?)

At least one case of unexpectedly low performance appears to be being addressed with the next patch. So cross your fingers.

Where are you doing your battles?

my specs are as follows:
Core i5 750
4GB DDR-1333
Nvidia GeForce GTS 250

I am having significant rate drops somewhere in forest at dawn or dusk where it drops to occasionally ~15 fps for several seconds and castle respawn (freeze there for 3-6 seconds).    although I still consider them playable, most people don't play warband using machines like this.

Also I am having problem that the CPU load is not actively spreading out to all 4 cores;  the all reside on CPU0 even with force single threaded off, until I remove CPU0's affinity with it.

Sometimes framerate drops can be caused by sound. Do you guys tried lowering hardware sound acceleration just to eliminate this possibility ? If i remember i had awful stutters and framerate drops in F.E.A.R. until i disabled sound accelaration completly.

I believe it's not a problem of your computer but the game himself .

Some sound / special weapons / armor on troops make the game freesing even you play with a NASA computer . The game have good optimized but have a limit .
If show all weapon on floors + all corpse + max size battle + etc etc , the game cry . not much to do beside Talewords optimized again the game .

Lol, I have just tried something out.

Interesting results...

I started custom battles with 200vs200 men.

First of all 200vs 200 Archers: This was the most fluent game. I had a constant framerate drop but actually this was not significant and the game was playable.

After this I tried 200 footmen and I exspected the game to crack to 2 FPS, but instead it was just like the archergame. maybe a little bit slower, but also playable and even enjoyable.

The last game I started 200vs200 cavalery, quite sure that this will finally bring down my computer but instead there was the same result as the change from archer to infantry: no big difference and even fluently in a way that you would be able to fight almost effectiv in this battle by yourself.

Thats really weird. I have 100 armysized battles in singleplayer sometimes significant slower(about 2FPS) than a 200vs200 cavalery fight(about 15-20FPS)??
Quite annoying. Lets hope a patch will come soon.

As i know , Sea riders make me lag when they cry/speak on death .. lagging like hell , even they are 10 .. And 100 others troops = no lag .

Have same problem in tournement when lord are on battle fields , make me lag , but when only have sister sword or random mercenary = 0 lag .

I think it's more a sound problem then graphic . Since that most about some special troops/lords then the numbers of the people on the battlefields .
