So,what would be the perfect(most powerfull) equipment in the game?
Armour,sword,lance...etc exept for the very rare armour the lads are talking about here

Depends on what you want to achieve or how you play your character. The most important however is a very good armour and the coat of plates isn't that rare at all, there's the teutonic coat of plates, the bishop armour, the bright red one, black and whine-red, as well as the hirdmadur coat of plates - plenty of them. So, some kind of reinforced coat of plates is a must if you want to survive long and still have some fun with fighting or sometimes going a little bit berserk. Lordly isn't worth the money for the +2 in protection (reinforced 84/33; lordly 86/35). Save the money for lordly mail mittens or even better lordly lammelar/scale gauntlets - they are definitely worth their money, mail mittens are far cheaper. Boots, some mail or Byzantine boots, thick or reinforced is enough. Fighting in a 'regular' knightly armour of whatever kind (protection 64/24) is more intense and you have to be more careful - no berserk mode. Here it would make sense to go for the lordly version.

If you're an archer then get some masterwork bow, depending on your skill/pd. Masterwork hun bow delivers the highest dmg and a masterwork self bow has the highest rate of fire, while still dealing a pleasurable amount of damage (hunting bow has the highest in fact, but it's a piece of wooden crap for battles).

Melee weapon, also depending on your char - the 1-h axe with 33p default dmg, a czekan, moorish axe and/or a winged mace for prisoners (studded club is also fun, but pure 2-h). From horseback some kind of 1-h sword, or a 1/2-h if you're into these weapons. A balanced heavy sabre will let you cut down your enemies in droves, best 1-h bladed weapon. Best 1-h swords (cut&thrust) - Byzantine ones. Best swords/sabres are balanced in my opinion, I even prefer them over masterwork and they are far cheaper.

Lance - balanced heraldic lance.

Horse - any destrier or lammelar war horse type, preferrably heavy. Spirited or champion are cute to have as pets, but not for battles because they never recover to their spirited/champion status again. I additionally always get myself a champion palfrey because it's the fastest horse and I use it for riding around for fun, either in the surroundings of my fortif. manor or in the town of I think it was Vilnius in Litus - beautiful scene for taking a ride

Helm - great helm of any kind, you won't even need a thick, reinforced, lordly version with this one. The crowned (greyish-white/golden in colour, with crosses inlaid on the height of where the cheeks are) is the best of these. I always buy myself one on becoming king.

Shield - either a reinforced heavy heater/heavy kite (also reinf. heavy Iberian, etc.) or a reinforced knightly kite/horsemen heater shield (or Byzantine shields have the same values, etc.). If I understood Kuauik correctly the horsemen heater will be gone with introduction of his pack.

Maybe for siege defense a nice polearm/2-h weapon, like a balanced glaive or hafted blade, 2-h or Nordic/polearm axes.

If you're into throwing weapons, travel to Litus and look around for Baltic javs, they have 10 javs per pack as compared to the regular 5 per pack. If you find a large bag or balanced, take them - heavy isn't worth the money.

Crossbows - of course a masterwork siege crossbow. Crossbows from horseback is more kind of a 1-2-shot joke because if the heat in battle rises you won't be riding around, trying to hit with your x-bow.

Well, I guess that's about it.

EDIT:
Armor - there's also the Teutonic Hochmeister armor, base protection of 74/33, worn by Anno von Sangershausen or whatever the Teutonic chieftain is called. I never bought it because it somehow reminded me of a woman's wedding dress, but maybe you like it. You can find it in the Teutonic & holy lands.

Glad to have helped... but they are somewhat rare to find in Litus, whenever I looked for them they were to be found either only in 1 or if I was very lucky in 2 towns. Once I found 2 bags of balanced ones in Polotsk or whatever (the Eastern-most town of Litus), boy that was like christmas.

You are welcome. I found 2 normal and 1 heavy. We're in the middle of the war, so I did not have the luxury to look for "large bag of" ones, also "large bags of" does have 11 javelins?

Yap, 11 of them. I never looked around for special javs, I always used the normal ones. It was just a big surprise to find 2 balanced ones in one place at the same time. For sieges, I packed myself with 3 stacks of them and some badass 2-h weapon or balanced XIIIa, and I was never lacking any ammunition

Thanks man! been playing warband since this morning and couldnt figure what would be the best armour out there!

not much to add to oroboros's definitive answer, I will just add my taste.

This is my standard war gear

Bow helps machine gunning enemies at distance especially in siege battles.
Lance is for picking one by one in field battles (weapon breaking is off, initially due to CTDs, now just because I like it as I can get 4 new lances every time (reload) but gets boring after a while)
Horse is always the heavily armored version (+95 health points, rather than +85)

War Gear Notes:
i56mg1.jpg

ARMOR
Thick Ornate Crowned Helm +144
Lordly Mail Mittens +12
Thick Coat of Plates +82/+31
Lordly Mail Boots +41

WEAPONS
Balanced Heraldic Lance
Masterwork Self Bow a.k.a. MedievalMachineGun
Large Bag of Bodkin Arrows
Heavy Military Sickle +33p a.k.a. WidowMaker

PS - In this screenshot you will see a 'Heavy Courser', as I learned the hard way heavily armored mounts are not the best against Memluks and stuff because you are a heavily armored sitting duck never mind the heavily armored bit they eventually kill the mount, better to have a fast one and keep the safe distance)

This is the ceremonial gear, having my arse kicked in my first independence attempt with -90 honour rating, this time round I managed to hold on to my tiny Kingdom; in fact just completed conquest of Sultanat al Mamalik last night 1 AM, so wearing my crown proudly on my Ceasarian red mount now!

Ceremonial gear
* Crown of course; #1 necessity for all sunday walks.
* No need for non-knightly bow&arrow, sword and shield look more knightly to my eye - again only for ceremonies, in battle I prefer to kill enemy before they get closer than 30 metres to me

I like the way you roleplay in the game!
I just bought myself the Masterwork Self Bow with the Large Bag of Bodkin Arrows,it does miracles!

Yeah, when you get to 350+ archery proficiency and position yourself behind or on the flanks of enemy (i.e. side of the steps) one shot one man has only one limitation = your mouse left click finger's performance. you can kill several hundreds yourself alone (ammo never runs out in sieges). [edit - ammo never runs out, if you are the defending side]

Oh yes, very nice JohnT. That's exactly the crowned great helmet I meant and the rest of your equipment is almost equal to mine besides from the melee weapon and horse, I always use the Teutonic destrier, the white one with black inlays - most beautiful war horse in my opinion. I switch the coats of plates from time to time (cannot stand the colour after some time) or sometimes tweak the heraldic mail to give the same protection as a coat of plates, of course I also increase the price accordingly.

But, while I see it - the military sickle is a fantastic weapon, very fast and good reach with a nice dmg (something like 99 spd/75 reach/31p dmg). Also, if you ever get so lucky and find one (very, very rare), the balanced warhammer is a real cutie to have, especially in close quarter combat.

Before founding my own Kingdom I was a teut vassal for 3 years (luckily grabbed Thorn) and I agree with your most beautiful war horse comment, I was using the same horse.

I did not test many weapons, I will test bal. warhammer when I get a chance, however I am in love with the sickle's L shape especially when the other end of L is enemy

piercing damage is 33 BTW, speed is 99, basically with this weapon + good stats you can hold the single man wide top of the siege ladder for a few minutes alone, if you're lucky enough till reinforcement wave reaches you.

The same with javelins. Even with 6 power throw and 300 weapon skill, 1 throw = 1 dead low-high tier enemy. Only the highest tier needs two throws. Javelin refills also. The ultimate anti-siege weapon

Where did you get that horse? I'm a caparisoned horse collector, but I haven't found one like this yet.

And about my ideal equipment, I stick to 64/24 surcoat matching my banner, standard 135 crusader helm, some better mail boots & mittens.
As for weapons, a must have is a balanced or better XIIIA. Not going anywhere without it. Secondary would be naturally balanced heraldic lance, with some reinforced heavy kite shield, proper knightly equipment. Horse is also a caparisoned stallion, preferably spirited, matching my banner. However, I keep my spirited palfrey for extra speed during raids or hunts. Third weapon is usually blunt one hand, sometimes morningstar.
As for sieges, morningstar or something heavy two hand plus javelins.

Am i the only one who prefers a palfrey in very large battles? Combined with a balanced heraldic lance its awesome. Perfect hit and run backstabber combo. Also good for hunting miles.

Oh and i didnt see anyone mention it yet, but also like a balanced knightly sword. For some reason it just feels right.

I prefer the arabian horses. They dont cause a lot of problems if i dont do headon charges. And love using a masterwork e.simitars. they are perfect for cutting down archers.

If you are against arabian/mongol based factions, arabian horses and palyfreys are the only option... I started the play the crusader states as a heavy cav. Now I play it as a light cav with javelin support

@Oroboros; From horseback your best bet is the Elite Scimitar , heavy sabre is not as long nor as fast (though that is not a problem at higher levels) . Will post mine later .

Yes, you're right either that or a Saracen long cavalry sword or a 1/2-h. But I do pretty well with the heavy sabre from horseback, I even use the mace or warhammer from horseback, just a question of technique. And if you get dehorsed and surrounded you'll be glad that you have the heavy sabre with you, believe me, the same in siege close quarter combat. The lance is still my all-time favourite from horseback and I only sometimes use a bow from horseback against horsearcher-heavy factions in field battles. For me the bow is reserved for siege attack/defense almost exclusively. I only switch to the sword on horseback if I get stuck and then it is sometimes better to have a shorter weapon and sometimes a longer one, i.e. either axe/mace/warhammer/falchion/whatever+XIIIa + lance + shield if a Christian or I swap the XIIIa+axe for a balanced elite scimitar + heavy sabre if Ilkhanate or Mongol char, or a balanced long saracen cav sword + iron mace/iron war axe/moorish axe if a Muslim char. And of course I don't wear coats of plates if I'm a Muslim, Mongol, etc. and use the typical equipment, muslim lance, round saracen/cuman shield, bow, etc. Most of the times I am some Christian knight type of char, though, and sometimes I even converted back and forth to different other cultures, which included name changing of the char as part of his conversion, other equipment, etc.

By the way, also a beautiful weapon is the Jineta sword if you're in Iberia, it's rare but has no strength requirement and 98 speed/97 length and deals 37c/23p base dmg if I recall correctly.
