Pendor Troops?

Pendor troops are cheap, easily replaceable, usually pretty fast, excellent for defensive battles and otherwise - mediocore. They aren´t a pure F3 army but very versatile.

Black suits every occasion.

And black doesn't show bleeding, which they are very, very prone to do.

Ah, that also explains the Sarleon's usual state of affair.

I've actually found the armored bowmen to be pretty good. Maybe it's just me, and granted I run around with 60 of them at a time supporting foot knights and pendor cavalry, but they have a high firing rate and seem to have a lot of ammo. Once massed anyway they seem to get a huge amount of kills and train ridiculously fast. If I have 20 pendor heavy bowmen I would upgrade them all to armored in 2-3 days tops.

@Zyke Turn those 60 armored bowmen into 60 grey archers and you will be racking up an insane number of kills in no time. =D

You need Nobles for that. Armored bowman stay armored bowman.

Maybe all of the good Pendorian warriors are the ones that come to the player as nobles.  It would explain a lot, huh?

That's basically it. Fodder is commoners, the actual troops are Nobles.

Pendor troops are basically Sarleon v 0.9. It actually even makes sense lorewise, since Sarleon is the successor state of the kingdom of Pendor. So Sarleon troops are slightly upgraded versions of Pendor troops. Which still makes them pretty bad. Saying that they can be used effectively is like saying you can cut with a dull blade if you do it right. Sure, but you can cut better with a sharp one, if you do it right too.

Pendor troops are great on the defensive. Believe it or not, I beat Eyegrim *and* the Three Seers using only Pendor common troops with non-knighthood noble cavalry. Pendor regular armor is far better than it looks -they can take hail after hail of arrows even without shields and still survive to engage in melee. Keep them on the defensive and have the archers in a tight wall in front of the infantry, forming a new front rank, and have your cavalry intercept the enemy cavalry as they charge or move behind their infantry to get them to turn their shields around.

The archers while not the best, can skirmish with the best, while punishing melee infantry hardcore, and they're so cheap that they can act as a free buffer against cavalry and infantry charges and not be missed. When their arrows are gone, they make decent bastard sword infantry too. Don't fear the red text crossing the screen, look forward to the message confirming your reinforcements.

No wonder Pendor broke up if its troops are so poor.

You just can't F1 F3 with them like you can with other factions.  And Pendor's breakup started from a plague IIRC.

Correct, and you will be meeting the conclusion to the Red Plague in Amala (as hinted by the Radiant Cross in PoP3)

While we are on the history, where does the player's arrival slot in again? How many years since the last of the Royal Pendorian's died???

20 years after the events of PoP3. In PoP4, the Player from PoP3 is still on the throne and you are now playing as their heir, sent to Amala to quash the Snake Cult.
