I'm actually having a problem with my Pendor Armored Bowmen to Pendor Gray Archers.

On all boards I've seen it says that Armored Bowmen are Level 20, and upgrade to Gray Archers. Mine are level 30 without the option to upgrade. Is this something different in 3.4? If so how do I actually get my Gray Archers (I need them for my Silvermist Rangers )

not how they work.

What do you mean, "not how they work"?

Even if I'm wrong in believing I can upgrade my pendor armored bowmen, there's still the major discrepancy of information: there is no evidence online of a level 30 armored bowman actually existing in PoP.

Thats how they worked in the old 2.x versions of PoP, the 3.x versions introduced Noble recruits and changed around the troop tree's a bit.

And sometimes you get better units, not just recruits....saves a night of training
In warband, I got top tier (swadian sergents) for 100 relations with a village. In pendor I use the auto recruit through the squire in the castle.

None.  It probably was possible before 3.4 and the archery troop changes.  For instance, the ravenstern ranger with his 2hander + bow + 2 quivers.

I don't remember Ravenrangers having 2 quivers, ever, and i played with ravenstern all my games. Would've been godlike if so.

I've seen some Raven rangers with 2 quivers. I think it's because they are equipped with arrows and barbed (or a different type) arrows. Since they have 2 open spots (2hander and bow) they can get both types = 2 quivers. Not sure if this happens always.

Anything you read about PoP in wikis and such is probably out of date and incorrect.

I think pendor armored bowmen are decent archers for price, they cost the least of all faction top-tier archers, and have decent skills, so you can spam them en masse in almost every battle you go into. Also, if you have a bunch of companions with decent trainer and level, you can get from 50 recruits to 50 armr bow in like four days, unlike empire armr xbow, which takes ages to train without going into battles.

Pendor has cheap, very easily accessible cavalry, and all pendor cavalries carry lances, which is a killer in open field. Just don't waste pendor cav in sieges and you'll be fine with them. The infantry, however, largely lacks shields and die very easily. You need other faction or merc infantry to compensate for that.

And when you need elite troops... it's pretty obvious.

...just sticking to the topic and answering, prob a little late

Actually, Pendor Cavalry do not carry lances. They carry the War Spear instead, which means they cannot couch with it but they do a good deal of damage with their first charge due to the spear's piercing damage. They will die very quickly once the enemy is around them though because of the retarded spear AI.

Their upgrade, the Pendor Mounted Man-at-Arms only have bastard swords and great swords in their inventory, which when combined with their weak armor and horses means that they get slaughtered very quickly when their charge is stopped.

All-in-all, Pendor's commoner line is really only suited to fill your garrisons up as they are cheap and easily trained. Let the powerful noble troops form your main battle army.

This.  I usually don't bother to upgrade to mounted men at arms.  When playing as KoP (and I always do once I am king) I usually used common troops to reinforce sheriffs and merchant caravans along with garrison duties.  My field armies are made up of knights.  Reset Knights of the Ebony Gauntlet to infantry, buff your silvermist rangers for archers and that covers your infantry needs.  Then take your pick of heavy cavalry order.  Conquer Laria for the cavalry archer knights and there you go.  A flexible army that can meet and destroy just about anything.

Oh boy... Sounds like I am going to have a hard time...
I am only using Pendor Troops at all times. That means no recruiting from other Factions... Gulp.... (Mercs and Rescued units that ain't faction based allowed though)

Pendor commoner troops are only good for garrison, and among them only the armored archers could actually help besides sheer number.

Ah... my mistake. I can't really tell the difference between lances and spears lmao. The thing is though, when I used them for my last game as a pendor king, I only used them as a full-on cavalry army with 150+ of these dudes. Khergit lancer mash style. Pretty effective, I found, and they are really easy to replace since pendor swordsmen upgrade fast.

What I do with these kind of lancers is just get a lot of them, and run them around the map while I'm sitting on a high place with my minimap up, it's sometimes easy to get sniped by top- tier archers as you can't keep the block up, but I rarely died from those stray shots. Just don't press charge and they will keep formation and run around dealing massive damage to whoever is getting lanced in the face. Effective against infantry army, not so much against heavy cavalry like the snake cult...

But I'm playing Empire King now, so I'm just sticking to balled up immortals slaughtering everything.
