Nice pics, Gothic Knight. I made some of those shields already, but that'll help me to paint the 3-leg-running one.

any chance of more screen shots?
There's several items done, and all weapons are being retextured from iron to bronze, since I'm not yet sure about the time period. I wanted to start from the bronze age of mycenaean greece, and push forward into the persian wars and the peloponnesian war. That way I could be adding new factions and units (hopefully the war elephants if we get an upgrade in our modding tools) as I go.
Anyways, here you go another one. The Lakednoi Xiphos and the Machaira Xiphos (swords), plus the Sarissa spear below.. They are still a bit too large, I'll rearrange all model sizes when I'm finished with the armors. The Sarissa is a bit smaller (yep it was even bigger than that).

It's possible - assign the one-handed spear the animation for a sword-thrust and you have a fairly decent go at an overhand spear-thrust.
Thanks for the tip, laundreau. It works, I'll have to adjust the model a bit, but that'll do.
but what about hoplites, they're not so tough if they're not in phalanx formation, and since there's no formations.. so what do you plan to do about that? i could, of course, be wrong...
though, if you could pull the mod together, i know i'd play it.
I know what you mean about the phalanx, I'm dying to have it as well. I'm pretty positive that Amargan will implement the formations eventually. Once the formation system is in, it'll be possible to mod it and add unique formations (ie. phalanx). The main point is to make it impossible to be able to ride around in one horse killing everyone on foot. About the player units, I think that will be quite easy to do, since you can have the hoplites stand together, wait for the right time and unleash them, they'll run forward and grouped, spears in hand, not many chargers can stand that (provided they're not outflanked anyway). I'm working on party units so that can be done with npcs as well, at least a nice selection of troops to make it more realistic combat-wise. It will have (hopefully) a different combat setting from M&B altogether, since at first it will be mainly a spear fight, with javelins from the peltasts during closure. Then it will swap to swords if needed (some cavalry use only the machaira sword though, while one single cav unit can couch lance).
The spear fight will also be a lot faster and deadlier, due to their training. Swords will be a second (yet beautiful and still useful) choice.
