Peculiar things you do

As a mercenary captain, I only use mercenary troops (mercenary cavalry/swordsmen/hired blades/crossbowmen).

I know there's more odd stuff I do, I just can't remember right now (operating on little sleep).

i equip all my companions with the best armour i can find, heavy chargers, a sword, a shield, a bow, and arrows.  unfortunately i havent figured out how to make my companions use their bows without first taking away their melee weapons.

should taking the shield away work?  or maybe putting the arrows in the bottom slot and the bows in the top weapon slot?

i like to identified my troop my what they are wearing so i create my own troop who only wear heraldic armour (the armour that will have your bannero on it)
Also i like to separate troop type. ex: sword wielding infantry is to be with Firentis, Crossbow men with Bunduk, Heavy cavalry with Alayen, Ymira and Klethi will accompany Sword sister. Jeremus will be with the spear man or pike man (my own troop)....

I make me feel that each companion command a specific group. And my army is more organized.

I dress myself and my companions in the elite armor of whatever faction I belong to. Right now Katrin, Borcha and I are dressed as Vaegir nobles riding plain Warhorses and using the voulge. Not that peculiar though.

I use throwing axes as my one-hander, so I spend three and save the last for melee. Won't use anything else unless javelins come along.

I only recruit from towns and villages that I own, so all my units are mercenaries, Nords, and dismounted Khergits.

I use dismounted Khergits even on open plains against looters.

I throw out most food after a few days, with bread lasting a few weeks.

When the enemy is routing en masse I make my men stand in a line and hold their fire. As they watch, I kill the enemy lord's horse and then dismount myself. I duel him, take a few hits to make my men nervous and the enemy more confident, then I kick him and hit him in the face with my last throwing axe. Seeing my men cheering in a line after the spectacle always feels awesome.

I don't attack villagers.

I give archers time to switch to melee before I cut them down.

If the enemy lord is already unconscious, I let one routing man escape from every battle so he can spread the word of what happens when people mess with the Vaegirs.

I horse bump as many routing infantry as I can before my companions kill them.

I only use vaegir troops for garrisoning Ichamur, and that's because I got 200 of them free from the other lords when it was initially captured by them. I never replace them, never upgrade them. When they're exhausted I'll just have to let the Vaegir army recapture Ichamur and garrison it for me again.

There are probably other things but I can't think of them.

I think that's what they call being too into something....

Cool, so anyone know what Companions belong faction? Even so I'm not sure if Swadians and Rhodoks has almost same armor set? I"m not sure what best armor set of each faction?

Alayen - Vaegirs
Artimenner -?
Baheshtur - Khergits
Borcha - mosty Khergit and maybe little south of Swadians in old Mount and Blade, but Warband may changed that.
Bunduk  - Rhodoks
Deshavi - Not sure, but since Sarranids might good?
Firentis - Swadians
Jeremus - Not sure, he travel world, but he might link to Rhodoks, but again, he might from other place.
Katrin - Swadians
Klethi - Not sure
Lezalit  - Not sure
Marnid - Not sure, but I don't think He from Nord, no, that's can't be right, I think he is from other place, or it's could be Rhodoks,Swadian
Matheld - Nord? Might other place.
Nizar - Might Khergit, but no way, can't be, it's might link to Sarranids or other place.
Rolf  - Not sure
Ymira - Rhodoks,

Now anyone can point me missing or if I'm wrong? Could anyone  list of best set  amor and weapons from each faction?

I always go ahead of my army and try to kill the enemy lord(s) as the first casualties of battle...which is often very stupid and ends up with me looking like a pin cushion with 5% health left but so worth it for the satisfaction of shish-kebabbing those cheeky lil monkeys.

I've spent this last week without sleep playing M&B at least 14 hours a day and spending the rest of my time watching movies. I haven't seen another person since last friday. I haven't changed clothes in days. You'll have to forgive me for my addiction. I QUIT TOMORROW, I SWEAR.

Spiffy.

I arrange my companions in the party menu girl-boy-girl-boy-girl-boy etc etc >.>

I equip my companions in groups of 5 with the same stuff (so I have a group of 5 with 1 handed weapon + shielf and a bow + arrows in other slot, and another group with 2 handed weapons etc).

I arrange my food in the top of my inventory. If I run out of something and a weapon or something else I've looted takes it's place I have to move it.

I buy food types in batches of three (so 3 loaves of bread, 3 smoked fish..s...s...ss..., 3 blahblah).

I tend to talk to myself in my head when I kill someone who killed one of my troops "YEAH DIE B*%&^!$!!!"

I tend to have a habit of only going afk when I'm in battle, so I go into the character screen and have a nap or something ridiculous.

If you've not gathered by now, I'm somewhat insane. HEH heh.

I often line my troops up before a battle and ride along the line...like theoden in lord of the rings

I also give the companions a unique look based on their background

I see many people have the same weird habits like thrusting the sword in the air after winning, and headshotting horses after winning in tourneys.

I also ride in front of my lines with the shield up towards them, flashing my awesome Emblem.
I always try to shot the rider off, and steal their horse in tourneys.
I try to time my cav. charge with the metal I listen to while playing. Awesome!
I like to jump and hit with an overhead axe-chop as a finishing move.
I only use faction soldiers when on campaigns as vassals, and an elite-mix when not.
I always buy food that makes up a complete meal. Bread, cheese and fruit for breakfast - grain, cabage and beef/fish for dinner.
Sometimes I like to pick up some recruits of a faction that has a large minus in morale. I.e when I am at war with Swadia, I use a line of Swadian recruits as cannonfodder and first-line infantry, while I sneak the cav. around the flank and/or position my archers. I see that as thinning out the recruiting possibilities of the enemy(does that work by the way? I mean; if you recruit from a village - can a enemy lord recruit from there shortly after?)

I unconsciously talk to the NPCs out loud sometimes... phrases like "***** please..." or "Outnumbered but not outclassed *****" or "Oh, running like a ***** now that your buddies are gone, huh?" come to mind. In retrospect, I call a lot of people "*****" in the game, lol.

Um, what else? OH! I like to single out the enemy lord during a battle and bring him down in a single pass, if possible, because I feel like it increases my men's morale beyond the Excellent status for the duration of the battle, even though I know it doesn't.

Annnnd... (thinking)... Some armor, even if better quality, I refuse to wear because I think it looks ridiculous... I'm a bit more lenient with my hero companions though.

I want to do this now, except in period speech.

"Ha-ha! Taste my blade, you wicked cur!"

"Face my wroth, you devilish wench!"

I always carry a set of 'smart' clothing (normally a 'Red Shirt') for feasts

I always punch my lance into the air when I've won a round at a tournament (if I've got a lance in that round)

Last fight in a tournament I will try and shepherd the opponent into a corner and kick them until they're unconcious (did that to King Ragnar in Sargoth once in the last round )

Whenever I buy armour I slowly move up through the different types & qualities over time, even if I've got 25k, I won't splash out on a suit of plate armour if I'm only using padded cloth or leather or whatever I have. Same goes with weapons.

1. I keep my food at the top of the inventory. i try to have nine slots with food.

2. In battle i ride on the left flank, and i like to hit the enemy line in the flank knocking down and killing as many as i can.

3. during a siege defending or attacking,  i stick with missile weapons , avoiding hand to hand combat.

4. when fighting bandits, i prefer fighting Sea Raiders, because they have the best equipment. which i give to my companions, so they look like sea raiders.

5. I'm a cheap bastard so i usually only give equipment captured in combat to my companions.

Something I forgot to put on my list. I normally use up to 6 slots though

I also keep niine slots of food, but at the bottom. 3 bread, 1 each of the 3 meats, 1 fruit, 1 cabbage, 1 grain. Sometimes I'll throw a hunk of cheese or one of the smaller food items in the inventory above as a treat. (I once read that food items closer to the top get consumed faster.) I haven't tried organizing them by meals, that's a neat idea.

This sounds like a hard-to-organize, but awesome, idea.

Another neat idea I might try sometime. But doesn't it get crazy expensive? Aren't mercs the most expensive units?

Man, hired blades are SOLID. Like, we're talking Huscarl solid. They're so reliable and you can just find them in taverns!

That said, merc cavalry are really expensive. I'd recommend not using many, if any (my companions are usually sufficient for cavalry).

Reminds me of this gem of a thread.
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,69866.0.html

When I have a fresh batch of recruit in a fight I always walk around them and give them inspirational words.  Then I ride off and kill the enemies myself.
