Peculiar things you do

What habits do you have in the game that might seem strange? Is there a novel way you like to do something? For example...

* I try to give each companion (Alayen, Jeremus, etc.) a unique, in-character look with their equipment. For example, since Alayen is a Vaegir noble, I only put him in Vaegir elite armor. I like being able to pick out individual companions during battles, especially since the floating banner has replaced floating names.
* I only sell salvaged weapons and shields to the arms merchant, salvaged armor to the armor merchant, and so on. If a merchant runs out of money or space, I hang on to what's left until the next city rather than sell it to the wrong merchant.
*I only use heavy sumpter horses for pack horses. Sumpter horse means pack horse, but heavies are decent, cheap replacements on the rare occasion someone loses their main horse - and in my imagination, can carry more weight.

I always thrust attack my sword into the air when I win a battle. Just feels so damn good.

Edit: I also never attack farmers.

I do the unique look per companion too. You're not alone.

I change clothes for feasts and the like. Doesn't seem right walking into a banquet in full mail, ya know?

I always name any faction I start after something historical, as well as my characters. Current one is a modded swadian troop tree based on feudal Japan. Named my Character Tokugawa...

Also, I only use armor and weapons based on the faction I'm a vassal of, or that my troops are composed off. Only mix troops and armor If I have no other choice.

lol, i do a lot of the same things.

I always dress Alayen and Ferenzis alike as they are my 2 knights. Bathezur in Khergit.  Bundok like a Swadian Sharpshooter.
I always do a ride by of the all my troops after battles.
I also only sell my loot at the appropriate merchant.
Never mix troop faction type on a character.  So if I ally Nord, only use Nord Troops

Can you purchase noble robes to wear to banquets?

Lol, I do the same.

I also have a habit of shooting random horses at the ends of battles and tournament rounds. If I see one loose, it's target practice.

I used to do that, but now I do the exact opposite, I put my companions in uniforms that make them look distinct from other troops (currently scale armor).

I always sell to the correct merchants.

I dress all of my companions in the heraldic armor so they are wearing my banner.
(The rest of their equipment is based on their nationality)

I change clothes for banquets.

During a siege, I jump on top of the siege towers and ride it to the castle walls using a bow to take out archers.
After I get into the walls, I jump onto a rooftop if available and continue to use the bow until out of arrows.
Then I jump off the roof to the other side of the enemy lines opposite of where the rest of my troops are so I can stab as many in the back as possible.

Whenever in battle vs. an enemy nobels, I pick them out first thing on the battlefield, and will not fight anyone else until the nobels are down.

I go for the nobles first too. They give the most xp, and I like showing him I own him.

I rarely buy anything for my companions. They get looted items or my hand-me-downs.

I try to single out enemy nobles. Partially for the honor, and partly because they can usually saw through my troops like a rip saw through rotten wood. I was once personally smote over the head by King Harlaus himself!

I'm a Nord, and a mercenary retainer of King Ragnar, so I dress like a Nord, carry a Nord Sword most of the time, and fight dismounted.

Being a Nord I fight on foot with the grunts, but I like to ride around the map and use my horse to quickly set up my troops when the battle starts. When I dismount the horse I sheath my sword then punch it in the rump a few times to get it running so that it doesn't get cut down in the fighting. I like to imagine I send some hapless recruits to chase the poor beast down after it's all over.

I've taken to creating a 'fodder' category of troops and filling it with prisoners who agree to fight for me, rescued bandits, rescued mercenaries, and any faction troops from the faction I'm currently fighting against. They all get sent charging towards the enemy to slow them down and break up their formation while I get my Nords into their battle lines.

I have a dress, so I can look pretty at feasts. And my character has a girl-crush on Matheld. And I spend a lot of time wondering who I'm going to marry. All of which I expected from barbie horse adventures, not a game where my character has personally slain... three hundred and eight people. No TKs though!

That sounds like fun. Something you can't do in vanilla M&B. I'm going to try it. Thanks.

I find that just a wee bit disturbing.
On the other hand, how much would I get shouted at if I suggested implementing lesbian marriages?

First post

I dress myself and my companions in heraldic mail, and we all use heavy charger horses.

I wish there were more items that allow heraldic textures
Guess I'll have to wait for a mod...

*Lesbian Marriage*
*Your character gains 500 controversy*
*and 1000 renown*
YEEEAAAH

That made me laugh. Not the way I envisioned it, but hell would that be cool!

First thing I do when I meet that arrogant git Nizar: I go to a training field and fight him a few times one on one to temper his ego.

I always have standardized garrisons. For example, all my castles have 50 infantry and 50 archers (same troops). all my cities have 50 infantry, 50 archers, then 100 "guardsmen" (usually just low-tier rhodok spearmen) to act as my police force lol.

If stuck with a ranged weapon, I knock out anyone left after a tournament bout (or do the best I can before time runs out.)

I only don armour in battles.
Makes ambush in cities and tavern fights a trifle more interesting, with only a sword and no shield...

I dress myself and my companions in the elite armor of whatever faction I belong to. Right now Katrin, Borcha and I are dressed as Vaegir nobles riding plain Warhorses and using the voulge. Not that peculiar though.

I use throwing axes as my one-hander, so I spend three and save the last for melee. Won't use anything else unless javelins come along.

I only recruit from towns and villages that I own, so all my units are mercenaries, Nords, and dismounted Khergits.

I use dismounted Khergits even on open plains against looters.

I throw out most food after a few days, with bread lasting a few weeks.

When the enemy is routing en masse I make my men stand in a line and hold their fire. As they watch, I kill the enemy lord's horse and then dismount myself. I duel him, take a few hits to make my men nervous and the enemy more confident, then I kick him and hit him in the face with my last throwing axe. Seeing my men cheering in a line after the spectacle always feels awesome.

I don't attack villagers.

I give archers time to switch to melee before I cut them down.

If the enemy lord is already unconscious, I let one routing man escape from every battle so he can spread the word of what happens when people mess with the Vaegirs.

I horse bump as many routing infantry as I can before my companions kill them.

I only use vaegir troops for garrisoning Ichamur, and that's because I got 200 of them free from the other lords when it was initially captured by them. I never replace them, never upgrade them. When they're exhausted I'll just have to let the Vaegir army recapture Ichamur and garrison it for me again.

There are probably other things but I can't think of them.
