Patron Saint...of Peasants???

Ok, so I'm now a living Saint.  Of the Peasants.

What does this mean, to me? Is this why I now have the option to stay as an honored guest (and still have to pay for it)?

I believe it means that your relation with all villages will slowly go up on its own. Makes it easier to recruit more and higher tiers of soldiers.

I think that's it anyway. That effect might be from high honour or something.

I've raided so much that I got -18 in relation to all towns and villages. I can't even build enterprises. Do you guys have any tips as to how I can acquire this title or ways to raise the relations (globally)? Thanks.

Hmm, globally is tough. I think if you get a random event opportunity to buy a piece of the holy cross then it puts up relations with every christian settlement. Doesn't happen often though, and you might have to be a king anyway.

Sending a spy into a village or town should raise reputation pretty quickly, up to 20 or so. When you have one in your party right click on a village/town and there should be an option. Maximum spies deployed at one time depends on  your leadership skill.

Have you been enslaving villagers?

If you're getting -18 in relation to all towns then it sounds more likely that you're picking the pagan options in events which will sometimes reduce your relations with Christian settlements if the options you pick are too extreme. If your relations with the few pagan towns (like Licidfeath, Anglesburough...apologies if the spelling is wrong) that you can find in Mierce are all right then that'd most likely be the problem. Raiding reduces your relations with villages that you raid, but raiding alone shouldn't drop your relations with towns and other villages that you don't raid.

Anyway, I got the Patron Saint of Peasants title as well, but I'm not sure if it's due to picking the pro-commoner options in events or helping villages with bandit infestations and doing enough quests for villages without asking for reward. The Patron Saint of Peasants title will gradually increase your relations with every village on the map to the maximum but it won't help your relations with towns. To boost your relations with towns you need to do quests for the town's guildmaster, buy drinks for the townsfolk in the tavern, send a spy into the town, and win tournaments in said town. Or, if you personally own the town then you can build an enterprise there regardless of relations.

@Kraggrim
Yes I'm guilty of that enslaving villagers. My salt mine was lacking, so I had to resort to the sinful practice of guiding my disciples to the sodium paradise. :razz:

@Phoenix VII
I don't think it has to do with pagan option, since I regularly pick the Christian option all the time. For example the soldier burial even which tend to happen a lot.

Thanks guys, that information will come in handy. I will recruit some spies the next time I come across them in taverns.

Thought so! Enslaving villagers and executing lords are the only things I found that put me into negative relation with towns. After executing a bunch of village-raiding bastards I couldn't even get into the towns I personally owned!

Yeah and that is IMHO a bug.

If you use a savegame editor you can fix that. Faction 39 is you. Faction 40 are your cities/vassals. Change relations between 39 and 40 and you can enter your cities again.

I did the same thing on a game. I was rping a vengeance war against a kingdom that had captured me as a kid and that had sold me as a slave. When I had captured theirs lords I executed all of them together (about 10). Next day the ENTIRE world hated me LOL and even my people. Quick fix on the savegame and I was good to go.

Alternative: change the penalty for the executing option.

My Honor is indeed quite high.  I reset the percentages of villages being overrun by bandits (and set the profitability loss to ...I think, 0, when a village is overrun).  See, when I'm first leveling, I like to fight bandits.  LOTS and LOTS of bandits, but having to run them down is rather quite annoying...so...I just "bait" them into one place by changing the chance for bandits to spawn in a village to like...80%, LOL.  I also increase the amounts which spawn from 1.2 to 1.8 or even 2.0, which then gives me and my companions something wonderful to do for literally hours (I really don't mind the repetition, as I use that time to practice things like chamber blocking, etc.  After all - Povtereniye Mat' Ucheniye (Repetition is Mother of Learning).

Oh, the Honor.  I don't accept the rewards, of course, since there's usually nothing there TO accept.  That leads to the excessively high Honor, and as a very nice side note, many many lords just crawling all over themselves to be my friend.  Relations 100 with people I've never even met is a rather nice side bonus.

I now have the Patron Saint thing; It also said that all the kings now feel that their sovereginty is threatened; also Ive been told the peasants are waiting for someone to unify all the kingdoms!!
I acheived this by doin "train the peasants" quests & then refusing payment "as they need it more than me"; also every farmer you see in a mead hall wants you to attack the peasants infesting his village
Im not really sure what to do now as Im still far too weak to challenge any kingdom(max party size 60)
;Ill have to attack some Dena pirates to get some decent gear for me & my companions
Any advice welcome
btw My Character is called "Cerys of Wales" in honour of the lovely Cerys Matthews from Catatonia

At that stage of the game the quickest way to get stronger is probably by improving your renown through tournaments, bandit hunting, and completing quests while doing alot of trading as well. The most profitable trade route is to buy silver, mineral, and stone in the villages and towns (but especially villages as they're cheaper) in Wales and then selling them in NW England around Crafu, Licidfeath, and the towns further north. You can make more money buying mead and beer in the two southern Mierce towns and selling in Caer Uisc and if you get good at hunting you can sell the hides for a large profit at Eoferwic. Aleifr starts with 7 in Trade so if you don't have him yet then it'd help your profits alot to get him. With the money from trade you can buy some Wineries and Breweries as well as hire Veteran Spearmen and Professional Mercenaries who'll make fighting Dena Pirates and enemy lords a good deal easier.
