Hi all,

Ok, this is not major but the more and more I have played the more and more I need to know... :?

Have you ever noticed that when you click on a town, area or group that is far away, your pathfinding is always off and that it seems to guide your troop in an arc on the way there :?:

Anybody know why this is or is my system just weird?

I don't consider this a bug but just want to know if anyone has experienced this.

Cheers 8)

Pathfinding doesn't have anything to do with this. If pathfinding was turned off, your speed value would noticeably change.

I don't know why you travel in an arc when clicking on far away objects. I think it's a bug, but i'm surprised it hasn't been fixed yet.

I think it's because of slight elevation shifts in terrain. Going upslope gives marginll slower speed than down or level and you get a really hefty movement penalty in woods.

The arc may in fact be the optimal path. It's not that far off the straight line after all.

I've seen my party turn and wander in the opposite direction to where I'm going before. Often straight into a group of bandits. Sometimes I think it happens in an attempt to avoid mountains. I sometimes get the feeling that there are imaginary roads that the party want to follow, they may well be the optimal paths as they often seem to be the most direct route down from a hill.

That's just a pathing bug. Near mountains, often the AI walks into a dead end and has to back out.

This makes it possible for you to catch slightly faster enemies and also vice versa.

Thus, when running away from an enemy force, stay away from the edge of mountains!
