Patch Notes v1.2.12

If you don't think an early access game is worth the money in it's current state, you shouldn't buy it. Steam explicitly tells you to wait unless you're excited about playing the game right now.

If you don't like Bannerlord but bought it because you imagined it would become a different game, then I hope you will take this a as a learning experience.
This isn't about the "worth", that's completely subjective as how that's measured. Exact same way some people are 100% satisfied with what TW put out 2 years ago, and some aren't.

EA is a demo fundraiser/kickstarter of a proposed game; some fail to meet expectations, change, fall apart, etc...and some don't. It's a risk investing into an incomplete product, I accept that; I'm not asking for a refund. Nor did I buy it in hopes it'll be CK3 or TotalWar or of that sorts, I bought it based on the expectation that whatever content I did get access to at the time would be improved upon based on feedback. And, based on my experience through that (and many others), they failed on that end.

Did TW "succeed" in releasing something official, sure, they met the bare minimum follow-through of the end result of a EA; an "official" release.

The only learning experience from this is that I'm not buying another TW game. I'm not even sure I'll even try one last hurray after this "whatever big" patch is still pending. Just here with my popcorn.

Early access is just early access. Doesn't really matter the state of the game. Some games on steam go into early access near feature complete with just polish and cleaning up to do. Others needing a lot of work. If I recall right from a interview at gamescom before early access release it was said the game was near feature complete. I didn't buy into the early access expecting them to add a lot of content and features, but to fix bugs and issues. Since the game came out of early access I had maybe the game crash on me twice over some 2k hours playing. So I dare say they done a good job on fixing bugs and stability of the game.

Go read the steam docs of what early access is and isn't, and you will see your claim of it being a demo fundraiser, is not it... that not even allowed on steam. https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess

Nor I, I didn't expect them to add, just fix things or implement things they said they would. If your measure of issues is reduced crashes, ok. Mine is addressing issues with the core elements that they did release with early access. Instead, they kept adding random half-assed features, then spent rest of the months/years fixing crashes with those features, without actually "developing" said features further. They can add a million more random pommels/parts to smithing where I can now make a dagger-length spear, yet basic QoL stuff are not addressed with smithing itself.

Ie. I didn't really care for that new OOB, it was and still is a buggy mess; just improve the original thing they had. Did they add that "organize into heavy/light" button? Sure, but it doesn't work half the time, and the time spent finicking with it (particularly sieges), I still crash, then have to restart, mess with the stupid slider stuff that doesn't actual split as intended or actually lock unit ratios, only to move the unit and it resets or they don't follow formations. Only to get fed up and not bother with it or risk another crash, and just deal with the siege as was preset which will mean I will lose because I can't "play" the feature. Even then, after all that, only to lead to my idiots leaking out of formation to man the catapults past the enemies that are just standing/falling/bugging atop the left battlements "waiting" for something or rubber-band around the broken siege gate.
This is just one feature. This is how it feels with almost every feature in the game; features that are both new and unexpected, and ones that were in place since the start of 2020.

Yes, that is what steam defines as EA, however vague and hard to enforce that is for them; that's more a liability protection for steam than it is a "gatekeep" for studios abusing EA.

You and I both know a lot of studios can skirt around that loophole.

Still not a word from anyone from TaleWorlds...
Because if they were to reveal what they're working on, people would complain about why whatever it is they're working on is taking forever and a day to add to the game. I'm p sure i said this at an earlier point, but it's clear that they'd rather eat complaints about radio silence than to eat whatever complaints would follow from a "what we are working on" post.

No, people would be excited and positive if they had significant feature additions or improvements. Based upon the last couple of years, I am guessing 1.3 is a nothingburger, but I would love to be wrong.

People would be going.. why are you doing this? We want this other thing. You didn't make it the way I want, whaaa whaaa whaaa. People will always complain and moan regardless.

Bad faith. You can look at other games with active and communicative devs that are open about what's coming in the future, how they take feedback into account and when they expect it to release and see people's reactions. I am literally looking at something like that right now and its almost universal praise. The difference in mood and energy compared to here is palpable

People aren't as unpleaseable as you think.

Agreed. And the reason we're not seeing an actual roadmap with iterative communications is because the project management from definition, prioritization and accountability, to source control has been awful and so they are not confident in talking about anything or their ability to deliver it.

While I can't say that with absolute certainty as I don't have eyes and ears inside the company. After so much time I don't see many other explanations that are as plausible.

14 December 2023 that's when they released the version 1.2.7 , which iirc was the last release with any meaningful content they released, we had an entire year of nothing, and people come here and say the development of the game is not dead :(

How long has it been? We haven't gotten an update yet , everyone expected in the new year (disappointment) The game is dead . The developers have ruined its potential. This is what the whole community expected from them:
1. Human diplomacy, not war and peace.
2. Normal system of pumping skills of the player and his companions
3. Exciting sieges ( destruction of stairs, pouring hot oil on the enemies and burning them, the battle is not as in a fairy tale at the walls of the castle and the city but in their own )
4. Be a real bandit and not rob the caravan, settlement and capture the lanes
5. Forging equipment (armor) and repairing weapons
6. Challenge the enemy commander to a duel
7. The system of danastia
8. Events
9. Trade , why when war is declared caravans continue to trade through the cities as if nothing had happened? And make a convenient system for pumping trade, if people want to play peacefully through trade ( to do a lot of good)
10. Creating their own soldiers ( after capturing the first castle or city)
11. Capture the settlement and rebel against the lord
12. Fix the player's clan units, as they are useless and take a lot of money, there is no one to manage them at all ...
13. Creating armor and selecting characteristics ( resistance to such damage or add such effects : misses or accelerated movement )
14. Add to the game abandoned mines, lairs, houses, temples to explore ( you can find things, money or his death ) RANDOMNO appear
15. In the tavern you can eat and drink
16. Bribing influential people for their own benefit ( to raise rebellion, respect, etc.).
17. Add a system of discontent ( when ruling if you do something bad it heats up and your comrades can vote to remove you from the throne )
18. Alliances of enemies against the player
19. The choice of culture affects the game, say northerners get more privileges when fighting on their land (increased damage, health and resistance to cold)
20. Choice of king for the country ( every 5 years ) customizable
But this is my fantasy, of course it will not be ! The developers do not care about this game and the maximum that they will add corrections and say it is out of beta ! Where are the good updates, where are the additions? A miserable game with miserable developers. The end ...

Dude. We can't even get interesting versions of basic features like party members, courting, lord relationships/dialogue, feasts, etc. The universe will experience heat death before this teams gets half of this **** implemented.

I can't even give food to my partys in the army, they are starving and losing soldiers.
this might be a bug. all parties in an army pool their food stocks and share it.
you are getting influence for sharing food so soldiers shouldn't be getting knocked out.
in your pic there is 1 wounded soldier, if it's due to food and not after battle, report the bug.

I have already reported and found out myself that in the absence of food in clan squads, as well as after the capture of a settlement and refusal to plunder, morale decreases by -15, which leads to desertion.
This is inconvenient, but solvable, the game developer will probably not do anything about it.

Shouldn't their morale been far worse if they starving? A heck of a lot more soldiers than 1 would have status as wounded if the party was starving though.

@Piconi any word on 1.3. Even if its not a estimated time frame (which would be nice) some sort of idea of if its still being planned or confirmation. And if not what is taleworlds main focus right now? A new game/ DLC?
