Guys, you know that on a team of 100 devs you can easily make 3 groups, 1 for bugs, 1 to improve the base game, and especially 1 for DLC, because the company can not live only from free updates...
As if they have 100 devs on this game - it's maybe 5-10 people
if. There's no way the 'amount' of content and update to date takes ~100 people, I don't even have to be in the industry to know that's just ridiculous.
This isn't about 'free' updates at this point, these were goalposts they set since EA (and have been shifted/removed constantly) that have
yet to be completed; even after the cash they got from EA, and the subsequent cash from the 'full release'. And maybe some cash from those that paid for that 'companion DLC' bs.
I think the recent updates are rather a good sign, this calm will allow modders to digest the recent changes, and for the devs to finish all the desires of the base game and work on its future.
Updates are always good, but not when it takes months and is something as 'tiny' as this current one with absolutely no notice. Prior to it, people can still play and with whatever mods that are active that make the game fun (despite some gameplay grievances here and there).
This type of patch was just a monthly 'update' to show face that the game isn't 100% dead, just 90%. This could've been part of their next 'big' patch whenever/if that comes; I don't know - they refuse to give any sense of update or info on what's down the line or what thought direction they want to go with (probably because they have none to give in actuality).
Moreover, concerning mods, I remind you that it is not an obligation for a game, that the devs also offer all the necessary tools, and above all that the hardest part is not to modify an existing game, but to create the mechanics, even more in a company (unit tests, hierarchical meetings, etc.). I find it sad, unfair and a shame to constantly oppose mods and devs. Without devs, no game, and without game, no mods...
Not an obligation, but you'd have to be a fool to not recognize that mods plays a
huge part why this game is even remotely good/worth it. Majority of the complaints here are on the base game - which a lot of mods already compensate for.
The base game (mechanics/engine/foundation)
needs to be strong for mods to thrive of course, they are working on one that is shaky at best, created of their own doing; regardless if due to poor planning/overachieving/overselling/technical issues.
The only unknown factor I can imagine is, if they made the game to not be mod-friendly, would the resources diverted from that have been able to make an amazing base game? Judging from what gets churned out for the base game as of now, highly doubt it.
