Patch Notes v1.1.3

Users who are viewing this thread

As people say I have been too negative here is me showing some positivity. Thank you Taleworld for our delicious new gift with patch 1.1.3 Fantastic work as always and I applaud your hard work

To be fair that exploit has been in a really long time now.

^and that's not even the first version of that bug. Maybe it's not being fair though, maybe that's worse. It's weird you get them from your own fief donations but it's also weird that clan parties (all AI parties) will get like 10X more influence donation then you would.

Hotfixes are not at odds with overall development. They address urgent issues while the work on larger changes continues.

These are partially outlined in the Release Plans post. Once we are closer to sharing another content update, there will probably also be a new blog / video / statement going over what comes next.
Please add deserters parties in the game. It's not that hard to implement and it adds a lot to the game.

i paid for Star Citizen like 8 years ago. havent played it more than 20-30 minutes in all that time. But i love reading their patch notes and what they're AIMING to do. Just the AI development notes alone is insane even if never accomplished. they're going for it and it may, no probably will crash spectacularly and I dont even like Space games.

On this game - i open the patch notes and am more apathetic than I was 2 minutes prior. I guess Apathy is the real Vision here.

Guys, you know that on a team of 100 devs you can easily make 3 groups, 1 for bugs, 1 to improve the base game, and especially 1 for DLC, because the company can not live only from free updates...

I think the recent updates are rather a good sign, this calm will allow modders to digest the recent changes, and for the devs to finish all the desires of the base game and work on its future.

Moreover, concerning mods, I remind you that it is not an obligation for a game, that the devs also offer all the necessary tools, and above all that the hardest part is not to modify an existing game, but to create the mechanics, even more in a company (unit tests, hierarchical meetings, etc.). I find it sad, unfair and a shame to constantly oppose mods and devs. Without devs, no game, and without game, no mods...

Oh, that wasn't necessary but thank you! 🙃 Why do you think they get so much influence though? Is it a balance so the AI has more influence or is it just a case of extra decimal place sneaking in there? It's been in so long now I begin to think it was by design.

no clue, but in my video it was a ton. I also deleted and made a new community post with your video linked and not mine

when there are too less updates people complain. when there are too many people complain. guess you can do nothing right as a tw dev those days.

thanks for the patch and showing signs of life! can not wait for the big one!

Moderators had a field day yesterday on Steam. The mob was out in force.

yes and you don't need to be the brightest star in the galaxy to understand why.

but i'll enlighten you anyway:

too many updates from TW breaks the game and the mods. many of us can't play for days (now more like weeks and appraching months) every time TW releases a patch.

too few updates keeps the game broken until a modder decides he's had enough of waiting and patches it for TW.

so what is the obvious solution?

publish few but big updates focused on fixing ****.

TW has no QA department, we test, identify and report bugs for them so the sooner they realise that adding more features (specially features no one asked for) is detrimental to this game now, the more we will be able to enjoy it. we don't want to be testing the game anymore, and we certainly don't want to wait months until they fix **** they broke with their new features. they should have realised this when they decided the game was ready for "official launch".

producing a single line patch note after a month considering the current state of the game is pretty much taking the piss.

I think morale in the office must be rock bottom, and the team is just milking their salaries at this point. I have never seen a studio this slow.

Can we get an update that actually makes the game more enjoyable to play? One that tackles the very long term problems people have pointed out since nearly day 1?

As if they have 100 devs on this game - it's maybe 5-10 people if. There's no way the 'amount' of content and update to date takes ~100 people, I don't even have to be in the industry to know that's just ridiculous.
This isn't about 'free' updates at this point, these were goalposts they set since EA (and have been shifted/removed constantly) that have yet to be completed; even after the cash they got from EA, and the subsequent cash from the 'full release'. And maybe some cash from those that paid for that 'companion DLC' bs.
I think the recent updates are rather a good sign, this calm will allow modders to digest the recent changes, and for the devs to finish all the desires of the base game and work on its future.
Updates are always good, but not when it takes months and is something as 'tiny' as this current one with absolutely no notice. Prior to it, people can still play and with whatever mods that are active that make the game fun (despite some gameplay grievances here and there).
This type of patch was just a monthly 'update' to show face that the game isn't 100% dead, just 90%. This could've been part of their next 'big' patch whenever/if that comes; I don't know - they refuse to give any sense of update or info on what's down the line or what thought direction they want to go with (probably because they have none to give in actuality).
Moreover, concerning mods, I remind you that it is not an obligation for a game, that the devs also offer all the necessary tools, and above all that the hardest part is not to modify an existing game, but to create the mechanics, even more in a company (unit tests, hierarchical meetings, etc.). Not an obligation, but you'd have to be a fool to not recognize that mods plays a huge part why this game is even remotely good/worth it. Majority of the complaints here are on the base game - which a lot of mods already compensate for.
The base game (mechanics/engine/foundation) needs to be strong for mods to thrive of course, they are working on one that is shaky at best, created of their own doing; regardless if due to poor planning/overachieving/overselling/technical issues.

The only unknown factor I can imagine is, if they made the game to not be mod-friendly, would the resources diverted from that have been able to make an amazing base game? Judging from what gets churned out for the base game as of now, highly doubt it.

you can always go back to an older version where your mods are running. modders shouldnt update on minor updates anyhow. it has been comunicated in so many ways that the game is still in progress and yet still there are stars like you. in the end you just seem to be a bit nervous to me. there is an update and the world stops turning for you.

there are several test branches that you can see on steamdb. but glad you know how they work and that they dont have qa. you just know better. i wonder why tw hasnt hired you yet.

dont get me wrong. the game has serious issues. we talked a lot about them with the devs. now that they actually on to fixing something it's still not good.
you might weren't here when taleworlds wasn't releasing anything for months. huge upset to the community. now they show that they are not sleeping and hard working - huge upset. like it wouldn't be visible that they actually try their best to adapt.
very enlightening.

thanks for explaining you are shining bright like the sun ☀️
