If I show "Townsmen (2/4) after a battle and then a rest at an Inn, am I carrying dead people with me?

I'm level 9 and just messing around, getting a feel for the game. Sorry if this is explained, but I read most of the threads here and didn't see it.

Also, when you give B&M items, do they use the weapon they are best at or do I need to micromanage? One of them is better at 2H than 1H, do I need to take his 1H away so he won't use it or will he decide on his own.

Btw, hi.

The 2/4 means that 2 of your 4 fighters are actually able to fight, the other 2 are unconscious or wounded at the moment, but they'll recover after a while.

I think Marnid and Borcha always use the best weapon they've got, but I'm not sure of how they make the comparison. You might want to take the extra weapons away from their inventory to make sure they use the equipment you want them to.

I have 2 type of AI heros.

As foot fighter they get. Bow with 2 set of arrows and a 2 handed weapon (axe, sword or 2 handed polearm).

As riders they get shield + normal lance (not the great lance as the Ai tends to do get slow and not couch anymore) They also get crossbow and bolts to be usefule when dismounted, The riders need the heaviest horses you can get them to avoid haveing them getting stuck.

Normally its not smart to give the AI ranged weapons when mounted but crossbows can´t be used from horseback so they´ll behave as normal mounted Ai and not run away uncontrolled

actually both marnid and borcha can become lethal horse archers. it only takes alot of time :D (a good idea is to keep them as foot archers until they have around 200 profiency in archery and 4-5 horse archery)

You can use the crossbow when mounted, just not the heavy crossbows.

The AI cant. I give 'em a sword and a shield and throw them into a bunch of river pirates, eventualy theyll relise how to defend themselves.
