Party Capacity - why only 16 recruits?

Users who are viewing this thread

I just realised that i can only recruit 16 men to join me in battle.

Is that the game limit?
Perhaps we can mod it to make it as much as your system-specs allow?

Each point to leadership skill will add one slot and increase party size by 5. I suggest you to click the skill names in character screen and read the explanations of in top right.

You do know that you can increase your leadership skill to allow for a bigger party right?

Or if it's just the battles themselves you're talking about, try increasing the battle size limit in the options screen.

Edit:

Damn, too slow. :(

It dictates the maximum amount of combatants that can be on a battlefield at any given time.

I downloaded the mod and set the 'Battle size' slider to 240.
What concerns me is that now, even if the total number of people on the battle field is only 40; the FPS drops to a minimum of 35 FPS at times; when before it used to stay above 80 FPS no matter what.

What is going on?

I have an ATHLON 64 3400+ with 1GIG of memory and an ATI X800 PRO 256MB graphics card.

The engine is new and needs some further optimization. So with alot of units on the screen your fps will dive, especially if they're mounted and in a river...for some reason. I have a 3.0ghz, 1gig ram, radeon 9800pro and was getting 20fps in a battle with 55 dark knights on double battlesize last night. Armagan said he was going to work on having the engine not draw units behind an obstruction...so that should help, along with who knows what else will be done. But it is rather odd that i can run Starship Troops with 100 high poly/detail aliens on the screen at once with a good fps, but not M&B with its much lesser graphics. Ah well, still a great game. Oh, and out of curiosity, how good is your X800? I was thinking of upgrading my card for when oblivion comes out, and was looking at either a x700, x800, or x850, but can't decide (really need 256 video memory). Thanks.

Edit: I'd like to add, that i believe the main reason the game feels so laggy at a fps lower than 50 is because your sensitivity changes. Morrowind feels very smooth at 30fps, and i can't tell the difference after 35-40fps. However, with M&B, i can feel it if my fps drops below 80-90, and becomes difficult to control at around 30, seriously imparing my ability to play. Shouldn't be to hard to fix your sensitivity at a constant, so the fps drop isn't as noticable...right?

Off topic: Oblivion is delayed to the second of Feb now anyway, so by the time that comes out, ATI will have released a new card and the x800/850 will be a lot cheaper. :P

Mmm....i wonder if combat in Oblivion will be as good as this.

If my remember correctly from the videos, your character seemed to block automatically at certain points when the gold-armored imperial guard attacked you. Hardly good is it?

Yeah...i think the engine needs to be updated to allow at least a maximum of 100 combatants on the field and running at a frame-rate of over 40FPS.

Off topic, but I recall Bethesda saying that there was a seperate block key.

Off topic: There is a seperate block key. Go to fileplanet and download the bundle new videos (at least i think they're new). It shows combat in good detail. And yeah, sadly, i did hear they pushed back the release date. Which is why i was only looking over those cards, and wasn't planning on an actual purchase until around or after christmas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated (Janus, i need your wisdom!).
