Parts of Warband aren't working

Hi,

I've recently started to notice lots of problems with warband- not sure if they are caused by the patch, as I think that some surfaced before I downloaded it;

-When I click on buttons, the sound is really quiet. Not really that bad, but it's a bit annoying
-Whenever I enter a battle (custom, tutorial or multiplayer) very loud fighting noises are playing all around me- swords clashing, arrows flying etc. There is also a water-splash noise which plays (even on maps with no water). None of these sounds relate to what is actually going on, it is almost as though the game is playing a massive library of all of it's sound effects. This is really odd and annoying.
-And also, when I try to join multiplayer games recently, often many red error messages come up, saying things about 'animations missing' and muskets and other such nonsense.

Any idea what could be going on? (I have already reinstalled the game- it didn't help)

oh, and I was using native btw

oh, and in multiplayer pressing L no longer brings up the leaderboard, or whatever you call it- it brings up the game log instead. I can't find a way to reconfigure the key (when I stop it from opening the game log it doesn't load anything.)
