Partnering with a University

Hi, I work for a large state university and I am just writing to gauge the level of interest by a modding community such as this for partnering with a university group or class to create historically accurate quests and quest lines for a mod such as this. First let me say I am a big fan of this game and have played around with this mod, our university has an educational gaming group and I could see very real mutual value for the modding community, the mod itself, and for a group or class of students in researching and writing both historically accurate and yet entertaining quests for the kings and characters in this mod. Of course the material would be educational, and historically accurate but I believe it can be fun as well, so this message is just a feeler to see if others in this group could see value in something like that. Again this thought is just in it's infancy. I would appreciate any and all feedback.

wow, just wow  !
I really wished I'd had a group like that back in my university days ...

Most interesting and influential conclusion tbh. Try to contact the Mod Dev Team about your goals and see what they would say...

... me too, wished to had such an ambitious group during my study days in the past... and first and foremost profs, who back up such ideas...

I'd definitely be interested in providing whatever help is necessary to get this going.  I know it would benefit the mod immensely.

Back about 30 years ago Reed College in Portland, Oregon sent a survey out to a recently graduated class to see how everyone was doing.  They then asked the person making the most money out of the to come and speak to the incoming freshman.  When asked before the bright young people what he did in college to prepare himself for such a well paid job, he explained that his time playing Empire provided him with so much skill in reading and writing detailed orders, that multi-state electrical power distribution arrangements were simple by comparison.

The Reed College administrators were more careful in following years to find inspirational speakers who didn't advocate hanging out with a bunch of gamers for four years as a road to riches.

The Empire game at Reed was notorious as an early strategic game that required incredible detail and whose rules were strictly adhered to.  One legendary order should give you some idea.  "Move ship to coordinates 115 x 212, drop off armored brigade."  Regrettably, coordinates 115 x 212 were still offshore, and even more regrettably the order writer neglected to specify "land armored brigade" instead of "drop off".  Splash!

This is a good idea and the rigor of this forum would do good things for University students with an interest in history.  The strong advocates for Baltic accuracy in this mod alone could do a great deal to undo some of the damage inflicted by the Soviets with their efforts to re-write history.  I very much enjoy the advocacy for various historical groups I see on this forum and built into this mod.
