Partial Party Spawn when over max. amount of battle size

Hi all

This is somewhat turning into a pet peeve of mine - how are you guys handling this problem:

When you help someone else fight, or later with a large army of your own, never will all your guys spawn together. So out of a 100, maybe only 50 will spawn if your battlesize is set to 100 and the enemy is evenly matched.

I have my party list sorted by order - infantry, archers, cavalry. Which means I might occasionally have only infantry spawn, or infantry with a handful archers. If I would put Cav on top, I might get Cav with no archer support.

For me in a battle, I want at least Archer and Cavalry to always be there, as they allow to work tactically together. But with the "partial spawn" system there's simple no way to make sure have an equal amount of each troop type.

Any ideas how to get around this? I suppose you could be making three separate "battailons" in your army, with 10 infantry, 10 archer, 10 cav each. But that only works if you have different types of cav, infantry, archers.

I'm the proud owner of a monster system since yesterday (Intel i7-860 with HD4890) so yes, I found that I can run 200 or more people in a battle just fine.

But I think Sieges are getting bugged up by so many soldiers spawned? Not enough ramparts and spots to spawn at for the defenders?

Also, it's a losing battle still. With some armies reaching 500+ soldiers in the native game, even a 500+ Battlesize does not avoid a partial spawn. And even if my system could handle 500 at once, the maps become too small.

Guys, I appreciate the info on how to increase battle size, but isn't there a more economical way of tackling what is primarily a tactical problem? Again, the main problem is that I see no way to guarantee that every spawned portion of my group will have missile soldier support and cavalry support. Simple scaling up the spawn size is a bandaid.

Nope. you could get different faction troops and try it that way.

10 Rhodok sharpshooters
10 swadian cavalry
10 swadian sergeant
10 vaegir marksmen
10 vaegir knight
10 rhodok sergeant
in party window and see what happens.

That's what I was afraid - different types or different levels of troop (regular archers, marksmen...) seem to be the only thing that truly works.

Would be a sweet feature if we could organize our "party blocks" ourself. Because the game DOES have some tactical value with the different unit types, but at the same time trashes this value if it doesn't let you define what unit types you get at the start of a battle.

Well i believe squads will come with the expension pack: warband. but i dont know if they are for battlefield only or party window organization too.

If you're very serious about it you could tweak the game to allow you to always control all units in a battle with AI, that way you still get all tactical oppotunities and are free from the sometimes annoyingly stupid AI.

Sry if i just restarted an old topic

you could train up different faction units, allowing you to choose more variation, a mix between vaegir and swadian troops for example
