""Trust The Computer. The Computer is Your Friend.""

Those words would give nightmares to any clone.

Anyone ever dabble in Paranoia?

Just played it once, but it was amazing. Never laughed so much in a game.

I only dabbled but I swear it was the funnest PnP I've ever done.  "Trust me, I'm happy that the lazer shot my arm off!  I swear!"

I remember it. Games Workshop IIRC, used the same rulesystem as Judge Dredd.

Wasn't that the one with the computer directive that declared everyone a commie or a mutant, and therefore requiring extermination?

That was it ... and it also declared that everyone must be happy under the computer's rule ... or else it was a sign of a 'commie'.  Man those were some great times!

I don't think anyone/thing in Paranoia wasn't declared a commie in some obscure way. I seem to remember the PC troubleshooters were mutants, and since all mutants were commies they were obliged to kill themselves.

They actually carried part of that over into Judge Dredd. One of the character traits you could select was born in the wastes or something, basically, you started off as a mutant which meant you were immediately obliged to terminate yourself.

I guess GW didn't stumble upon the concept of re-rolling a character until WFRP

I think it is the only game where I spent more time laughing than playing...you need a really sadistic GM to get the most out of the game though

Too bad I've never got the chance to play it...

But at least I read the book, and it's great! I never thought that just reading a rpg book could be so fun!

Anyone remember how that little song went that was in the back of the book?  That alone was funny enough to buy the book.

Song ? I just dug my copy out of storage and I can't find a song in it, I have the 1986 hardback version of the 1st edition.

'The computer is your friend. Puck-R-UPP-2 please report to your nearest termination center.'

No clue what version (or date) mine comes from.

Next time I'm back at home, I'll try to remember to dig it out and see.  Funny stuff
