Rank your way up by talking to the 10 nobles etc, following those quest lines. Also get enough renown.

sorry to break it for you, im at day 200+, got maried after like 30 days and claimed a castle at tire 2 since they left it almost empty and then i managed to grab a city at day 100 still at tire 2 clan, im now tire 3 and the banner quest is bugged at 2/3rd of the needed items and im still no king just a clan leader owning 2 towns and a castle
