Sergeant Knight
So... in my current game (880 days) The fierdsvain have managed to destroy Sarleon and annihilate the D'shar, they even managed to get their filthy hands on Ethos and Ravernstern but The Empire counter attacked and reclaimed their lost town same for the Ravernstern, I haven't interfered in politics affairs, since I allways prefare to hunt the minor faction armies and act as an independent merchant, I did offered myself as a mercenary captain a few times to the Raverntern kingdom but I didn't much damage to any of the other factions I just wanted the pay, I've defeated Fierdsvain Lords a couple of times here and there but nothing major, but now I see my mistake and I've been planning to level up my charisma and start a Fierdsvain civil war to weaken the Kingdom leaving a growing space for the other two kingdoms.
My question is ¿Does my plan makes any sense?

Aye it makes some sense. Wage the civil war long enough for the Empire and Ravenstern to fight back.

It's a nice plan, really, but you better expect that outcome won't be so great as it might be. If you weren't merchant, maxing charisma would be pointless and this plan not worthy at all, but this goes all well to you... who knows, maybe it'll bring some fruits in the end .

Well... I played a couple of hours, I pledge oath to the usurper of the fierdsvain...defeated like 10 lords mostly because none of them wanted to join me and now I'm poor! (I hired too many adventurers.)
It's hard to be a rebel but I think I can stop their advance...at least for now though  :???:
I've gained lots of renown and now I can lead 180 men, I believe I will raise an army of Ravernstern ranger combined with adventurers and Pendorian troops, storm some castles and gain some territory.
I saw their full strength when they took Senderfall, 4000 troops almost a thousand soldiers where elite, the situation looks bleak but if I can cripple their economy and divide them  I might give Ravernstern time to organize a counter attack.
And yes! those damned Huscarls are deadly I'm level 32 and I got defeated by one  Gotta love Pendor.

what were you doing for 880 days?
At 400 you should have nearly half a million coins, and almost level 30
At 800 you would normally have maxed everything out? Not judging you, im just curious as to what you were doing?

Hehehe I usually roam the trade routes, opening enterprises in every city I come across, then I gather armies and fight minor faction armies till I am poor or I get captured. I even got the vaseline award  I'm not really good administrating money.

At least have a bit of a slush fund.  I normally carry around 100k in denars that I will NOT get rid of, no matter what.

I know what you mean  . In my current game, which is about 400 days in, the fierdsvain have a little over half of the continent and are only at war with me >.<

The Green Horde never have been an issue in any of the characters I've made. They were always the first to go. Then again, they usually were shanked by myself, Ravenstern, Sarleon, and The Empire. The D'shar was the common whore we all passed around.

Hm.  The Fierdsvain has almost always been tough for me.  Then again, I tend to be archer-centric, and those damned shields do get in the way of an arrow.

The D'Shar were always easy, because they are terrible all around until you fight their upper tier infantry, so I agree there.

I despise the empire, those crossbows.... GAH.  Sarleon is fun to kill, and Ravenstern.... Don't even get me started how hilarious it is.  XD

Heres my tactics for each faction

Fierds: Archers and Heavy Infantry.

Once you get rid of their elite guards, and if you still have half of your live left, you should easily be able to parry/block their axe swings and retaliate before they get another one in. Avoid large groups unless you can just swing from behind alot.

D'Shar: Recruit alot of farmers, it's a numbers game.

Sarleon: Archers. God damn war hammers and maces always knock my men unconcious. Arrows tend to negate that effect and wipe them out.

Ravenstern: They are the 2nd hardest faction for me to assault. They've got horses, bows, and good swords. I usually just gather their lords together near the bridge by Poinsbruk and force them to come to me, my archers handle their calvary, i handle their arches with my horses, and infantry dish it out to each other in the no man's land.

Empire: I save these guys for last. I've got no real strategy for them, like the D'shar, I use numbers. I tend to have about 600-1000 Adventurers garrisoned, and that's when these guys come out. I remember taking Cez, and out of the proud 20,000 troops, only 2,0000 went home. (I had gathered all my lords together)

I used to have tailored plans. Then I just mass produced the pendor line supported by Order troops.

The usurper quest line is the hardest in the game, even harder than starting up your own kingdom because you don't have the same recruiting options when it comes to other lords.  You can't make companions lords and have to convince enemy lords to join instead of capturing them and accepting their oath if you have high enough relations.  You also can never be at peace until the other side is completely dead.  I did the usurper quest for Sarelon and i was only able to have 2 other lords on my side the entire time and one of them was my husband!

As long as a faction is not completely dead, you can help them come back.  Just attack Fierds castles and towns but don't take them.  Weaken their forces so that they only have 50 or so in their garrison.  Soon they'll be sieged by the weak faction you want to help out.  You can further help by defeating any Fierd armies that come and try to break the siege.  Still it sounds like you're in no position to do that kind of friendly support as you're fighting for your life.

Ravenstern is a very easy faction to take down, as long as you use the classic line-the-archers-up and watch the murder.  You have to have some kind of heavy cavalry for their Rangers though, I use H.A.s.

The only aspect of Fierds armies that gets on my nerves, is that they're all 20% cavalry. So not only are they larger--but they've got roughly similar ratio of cavalry:infantry of the other factions. And they always use strategy of attacking frontally or on flank with their cavalry to tie up my inf + archers, while their Huscarls advance unmolested to begin the real killing...

Change the spawning % of Fierds cavalry from 20%--->5% imo, and Fierds will be tactically more manageable.

As the situation now stands, all experienced PoP players know that keeping the Fierds *****-slapped through the Early- to Mid-game is essential to prevent their total conquest of Pendor.

Archers aren't even necessary to take out Fierdsvain cavalry.  I go out and smack them in the face with my sword.  They're such a terrible force I cut through them without getting touched usually.  The archers just provide the last few pick-offs that are necessary to mop them up.

Then their shields start taking punishment from arrows, and the H.A.s clear them out.  It's a universally effective military, it struggles in some aspects.

I find that the key to defeating numerically larger Fierds armies with minimal casualties is for me with my Ruby Rune bow to kill all/most of their Berserkers. The initial banzai rush of swordmaidens is easily killed by my troops--but it ties up my archers, when the morons should be aiming for Berserkers and Huscarls.

So having my cavalry + mounted companions F1,F3 the frontal or flank-feint of Empire&Fierds cav is now de jure.

Oh God! guys I think I did it
I managed to stop the fierdsvain expansion in Ravernstern lands by conquering Senderfall and pissing off Ravernstern they besieged me and kicked the crap out of my troops PLUS! The Empire and Ravernstern made a peace treaty, SO in summary Ravernstern has 4 cities and is growing, they are at peace with the Fierdsvain and they want to retake old fiefs that means war with the fierdsvain

I found out that it is actually pretty easy to defeat the fierdsvain in the battlefield as long as I'm not badly outnumbered, I quited the Rebellion and made peace with Gregory.
Edit*
Nevermind! -_-' The kingdom of Ravernstern is too stupid to defend the territories I conquer, we lost the hegemony and we suck.
