[OSP][BROKEN LINKS][Texture] Riveted Chainmail Texture w/ Transparency

This was a little experiment I did in class to derive a consistent chainmail texture with transparency. It was modeled in Blender/Maya and then rendered out with AO and textured in gimp to create a working source texture.

Didn't turn out as well as I had hoped (more an issue with execution, not concept) but nonetheless it yielded a pretty good result.

Usage:

Transparency was used for a good reason. Texture your cloth/gambeson first, create a new chainmail layer and apply the chainmail texture on top. The transparency will show bits of the gambeson/cloth underneath for a realistic and believable effect that's it's actually a hauberk over top of an underlying piece of cloth armor. If you're lazy, remove the alpha channel. Create a drop shadow effect in order to make the chainmail shade the region it covers appropriately if you're using the alpha.

Admittedly the color tiles a bit awkwardly, so I'd recommend some handpainting some translucent shading onto the chainmail areas to break up the tone a bit.

Here's the source textures, and an example shot:
