Original Map

I kind of miss the old Calradia. Is there somehow a choice to play on it? I really liked the original SoD on M&B as well which played on Calradia.

I just find Ponavosa too big for me

Nice to hear that.

I dont want to undervalue Computica's amazing work on that huge map. Regardless, it just feels way too heavy for me; I'm sure most of the players who see it for the first time feel somewhat lost as well.

Yeah the tirck with approaching this map is not to try and 'take it all on at one' pic a couple of factions and 'live' there for a while, then as you get a bit stronger and generally have your bearings, start to move around some more.

The big map is, what is making this mod interesting for me more than anything else.

It is the only mod where you really got a world. A world with empires, each with a real powerbase (not a pityful bunch of lords that collapses once two towns are lost)

You can play in the southwest for ages and still got several other empires around, move to the northeast and do the same, etc.

I really, really hope it won´t be changed too much, especially the amount of cities the empires got.

If you feel lost choose a place where you want to live/fight and go for it, just ignore the rest.
If you are "done" or bored (or pissed to many people off) after 1-3 ingame years you can travel to a different part of the world and start again, in the same game, with the same char.

THAT is what makes "newer" SoD with this amazing map so very special for me.

NO other mod does this.
Even Brytenwalda is mostly done after a certain amount of time because all the dozenz of "empires" got only a few holdings and get consumed liked flies.
Here you got a dynamic world for many ingame years with quite stable empires where you can really develop your story, grow to a legend or a plaque or everything inbetween.

I try out a m&b mod every few months but i must give in, after so many years i am simply done with it and its 3 towns - 3 castles 6 villages = an empire setting.

SoD is the last one i am interested in, after Pendor IV is buried.

No the map will remain the same size, there may be a slight reduction inn the number of cities, etc. I haven't looked at the numbers in a long time, but I am talking like a maximum loss of like 10 sites or something so there is still well over 90, so I don't think anyone will 'feel' the reduction, I can't talk about the plans yet, but I sincerely doubt anyone will be disappointed!

This thread makes me very happy, I'll beposting pictures of the map changes tommorow. I made changes lib hasn't even seen and I think that based on everyone's comments that I've satisfied you alls concerns. The map is still the same size though we have changed up the gameplay greatly and have setup the map likewise to those changes. Before towns villages and castles were added randomly, but this time I'm trying to simulate two different government systems. The first ofxourae is the fuedal system which takes a big nod at CK2's system of dejure. The 2nd is a Tribal/Clan system which takes a nod at the game King of Dragon Pass (KoDP). Therefore the map has 120 provinces, each has 3 build able realms. Meaning there are 480 different realms on the map at one time.

As far as the size issue goes I've decreased the amount of playable space on the map itself in many different areas. Everythcing looks a lot more natural. This time I really tried to make it so that the land itself sections off different provinces naturally. Tommorow I'll post pictures for you all so you can see what I mean.
