Orders and AI Behavior

Does anyone know how orders are issued and or where the order descriptors are stored? I was thinking about experimenting with custom orders and AI behavior, but I can't figure out where to start.

While were on the subject, how does the AI determine when to switch from ranged to melee, and where is the information controlling this located?

One last thing, is it possible to add in custom key-binds?

What I'm trying to do is create a troop order to swap weapons.
 
If you could figure out how to give orders to subsets of troops, that would be great too!

Order archers: Hold position
Order horsemen: Charge!

That's what I'm talking about!
 
i believe that all of that is hardcoded into the game at this point, cant be changed with the mod tools available so far

if by custom key-binds you mean changing which key is move forward and such, that is in options menu.. if you mean adding your own, then not possible as far as i can tell
