Order hot keys seems awkward

Maybe I miss something, but I did not manage to find a topic about new hot keys for orders.

In the newest version of the M&B player must choose the order type (movement, formation, etc.) before using certain order (hold position, charge and other). I think, it slows down the commanding too much and make the hot keys almost useless.

Does somebody have similar problem?

Any chance for old-fashion order hot keys to be returned?

Hate to disagree, but I actually like the new system.

It is conformal with all the other "radio com" menus I've seen in the last five years on computer games, for example in flight sims (IL-2) or first person tactical games (SWAT4, Armed Assault).

I never managed to remember which key did exactly what. Now with the visual aid on the screen, it's much easier. And also, I would argue that the short delay is actually much shorter than it would take in reality to signal a 150+ Army a new command.

When you get used to the combos, it might feel better then. For example with Arma2, I have commanded so many AI soldiers that I can simple press "^-4-1" to order "disembark from vehicle", I don't even look at the separate keys anymore.

Eh... But hot keys it's really something that supposed to remember

If you not remember keys or time not critical it's better to use command screen instead of hot keys. Now it's looks even faster than browsing "hot key" the menus.

I never had the command screen working properly in M&B Classic, it was always hard to read and much too slow.

At first I missed the old system as well, but chalked it up to not being used to the new layout. Then after playing for a while I still disliked it, though I'm getting used to it now. The thing to remember is that the new system offers a HUGE range of possibilities.

Remember to label your companions and troop types, and with the ability to make several custom groups, you can select and send "Light cavalry" to one spot and "Cavalry" to another. It opens up plenty of formation possibilities, for instance two archer groups on seperate hills, guarded by two squads of infantry.

The only added feature I would like at this point is being able to split twenty identical infantry troops into two seperate groups.
