Oneway ticket out of newbieville

Are there any other out there that started playing with the easy save without quitting option, built up the character a bit and then wished they could change back to quit only at exit ? I have become attached to my character and would like to have changed to the other way of doing saves about 20 levels ago.

Maybe there could be an option to revert to the harder setting. One way of course, no going back.

I have lost a few levels more than once because I have hit the "quit without saving" option instead of "save and exit", I got confident and so now I dont really save at all unless I am finished playing, but have run into the "oops" several times.

Nope. I may be in the minority here, but newbie-esque or not, I just tend to regard the "realistic" option as silly. No matter how badass your character is, stuff can happen. In real life, you'd be stuck with the consequences of doing something stupid, but this is a game. I treat it as such.

Not only that, but there are some things that end up happening to my character which I can't imagine would in real life, unless he had an iPod hooked up inside his helmet--you know, like the whole "not quite realizing that a guy was charging at him from behind on an armored warhorse" thing.

I've only ever played with the 'no quitting without save' option. I honestly doubt it makes much difference.

I mean....the absolute worst thing that can happen to you is that you get knocked unconcious, lose any non-hero party members and a few inventory items. And things have to go pretty darn bad before that happens. You almost always have a chance to flee.

That's it. That's as bad as it gets.

You never die, you never lose any equipped items, and you don't lose any XP...unless you get knocked out when you're about to complete the black armor quest, it's frankly just not that big a deal. Raising a new army takes all of an hour or two and money grows on trees past the very early game.

If you want to quit without saving, more power to you. It's only a game. But there really aren't any 'consequences' to worry about.

Totally agree with Little Raven.

To me the worst imaginable thing that could happen would be if my spirited charger got crippled and I would have to get a new one.

Then again I usually play games with my own little 'No quitting without saving' policy. Adds more realism and makes any game more fun in the end in my oppinion.
