In short, are lists gone permanently and why? It seems like a form of censorship to me. I wonder what everyone else thinks. I personally find them entertaining and insightful. Not to mention it is one of the few things that keep people talking and posting in this community. Seems like an unnecessary shame for them to go. You can lock this if you want and ban me for spam, but it will kinda be proving my point. Can we have a civil discussion about this and decide as a community
Cheers,
Your local NA duel kiddo

Greetings, folks. The moderation team has decided that the "List Threads", threads in which certain members decide to rate other people in the community, have run their course. We feel they've strayed from their original path of discussing and acknowledging the most skillful in our community and became a tool for antagonizing people. What I mean is, it got salty. Supersaturated even. And thus, the moderation team is going to lock such threads for the foreseeable future. We thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter. I will appreciate it if you could report any such threads that we've forgotten to lock. And as always, feel free to approach me or any other member of the moderation team if you have any suggestions or questions.

Reading. Try it.

I personally believe that lists are fine, however the community is not. Lists were only really censored due to the amount of salt on threads, without this salt then lists wouldn't be a problem.

However, If you open any thread with a reasonable discussion in it there is almost always salt. Nothing wrong with a little NaCl in my opinion.

I'm glad you've used NaCl instead of Salt, Impressive. List threads are EXTREMELY salty though... unlike no other.

Bendetto's list was genius and even though massively biased it was a good representation of the community. There were a few other lists after that which were also good and between them we had a pretty accurate rating of players old and new.

The problems began when a bunch of newer, less experienced players began all making lists and giving themselves and their mates high scores *cough* wonwokie, fietta etc. The only rational reaction was trolling and salt, leading to an arms race of increasingly retarded lists and replies, eventually won by Ciiges and Kane who literally posted the same list of mediocre players.

It was a good run but the concept of lists has been damaged and only time can heal that. It is said in the future a new list will come, one which will span the divide of old and new. Until then I support the ban.

It seems extremely overkill to ban every list because a few of the European ones were causing trouble. Lists like the Top North American all time had generated healthy discussion and helped some of the older players remember times long forgotten. Banning half the front page when only 2 or 3 posts actually require moderator attention solves nothing and will only create tension between players and moderators.

Hello Tangawizi.

As stated in the last post of some of the list threads, we're not allowing the opening of list threads for the foreseeable future due to the current circumstances. This does not mean that they are banned forever and might be allowed in the future.

Sadly, it wasn't just a few posts that were problematic, it was the effect such threads had on the community that we didn't like. I will not deny that such rankings made by distinguished people from the community can be beneficial and interesting. But as OGL has explained, the whole idea of the list threads has been used in an antagonizing way for so long that we believe this enforced break will eventually lead to a change for the better.

I will concede that. However, the reason for the closure of the list threads is because they had become supersaturated with salt.

Dedicated board for lists sounds like the best course of action here!

The lists were mostly exercises in ego-stroking, and they generated much more butthurt than benefit. A little butthurt never killed anybody, but a little has a bad habit of turning into a lot faster than you can say "salty much?" They're more harm than good anymore. Fun while they lasted, but their time is over.
