But I still think it's stupid to choose between spear or shield. It's not like neither Warrior shield or spear are any good.Sturgian warrior is ok 2 hander though
My guess is that they always want asymmetrical balance. Not every 100 gold unit should have spear, shield, sword. They want to evoke the image of Sturgia as the rush faction. With little regards for their own defense and helping their cowardly archer friends (reason no heavy archer on roster) they go for maximum damage. A common trope for Vikings (I know Sturgia is not Viking, but eh.) in fiction. But I still think it's stupid to choose between spear or shield. I'm still quite baffled why Recruit can get all the tools compared to other factions. Why give Recruit a free shield (and javs) but exclude other for these "basic needs".My guess is that they always want asymmetrical balance. Not every 100 gold unit should have spear, shield, sword. If this is what they want they need to want something else because its bad for the game.My guess is that they always want asymmetrical balance. Not every 100 gold unit should have spear, shield, sword.
[CAPTAIN MODE]I do like the fact that recruits start with a shield now, i mean it seems a little OP to have a giant shield for such a low tier unit xD like a dude in cloth armour with this giant high end shield lol, but good move considering they are one of the more expensive low tier inf.
If Sturgia Game Design would be like that, then their Heavy Inf Varyag needs to be way faster and cost 150 to take that into account. My guess is that they always want asymmetrical balance. +1 bring pila back to legionere instead of long spear its iconic and effective[CAPTAIN MODE]
I agree, Recruit change is the best "win" out of this patch.
Recruits are actually playable now, and serve their intended purpose as screening and/or flanking/support troops.
I'd love to see Recruits lose the Pila, though, to be honest. As much as I love Pila, it does not make sense to have both Javelins and the Pila, as I can't tell the troops to hold the pila and throw the jav...
Pila needs to go back to Legions, where it belongs.

100% agreePila needs to go back to Legions, where it belongs.
