Gotcha!
Loving it so far. SP Battles seem more engaging for me. A bit more of the diversity that I am looking for. In warband when I used to start out I would go around basically sucking cock to get gold and whenever and wherever I could get it I would immediately throw those funds into buying peasants. My battles in Warband would usually consist of, initially, me herding tons of peasants off to slaughter hoping that numbers would put me on top. So far I am surprised that I've been able to fight very effectively against larger forces with a small balanced army at the beginning. At the moment I am pleased to say that I am not as poor as I would be starting off in Warband. I don't think the guns are overpowered at all in SP. They add a nice element to the battles and most of the time I only use them for about two volleys before I send them into close quarters combat. I am able to hold my own against bandits (although I suffer minimal losses with each fight) while I start off my trade business. Horses are too slow in my opinion, but other than that combat is just dandy for SP.
I didn't think I would like the story line but the more I get into it the more I am finding myself attracted to it. I still don't like that you can't actually start your own Kingdom and I am hoping someone proves me wrong on that since I've only picked that up through the rumor mill. Haven't seen all the armor/weapon sets yet but so far I'm liking the general aesthetics of the style. Still trying to scrape out enough cash to keep my head about water to fund my meagre 40 man army. So far my men and I have fought many battles together but they don't seem to rank up. Or at least I haven't noticed. Despite the (recruit) still appearing next to most of their names they do seem to be getting better and better in terms of their performance. So perhaps there are changes just not as quickly or as easily seen in Warband. A few things they could work out. A bit more diversity in the scenes (but that's easy as pie to change with the right tools -- which we already have) would be nice. Battle scenes seem a bit generic also. Towns are a nice change and I like the diverse layouts I've seen so far. Same goes for Castles.
For all the people hating on it... I'm noticing a trend. It seems like an army of "Recruits" and "first time posters" have flooded he forums to voice their unrest... Give me a break. Stop crying. I think this game will provide a wonderful new foundation for a host of new mods (or old ones simply expanded).
Edit: Not so fond of MP as of right now... Seems like the ****ed up big time on some balance issues with the combat.
