Old serial key won't work with warband

So I'm having issues with my serial key, when I tried to enter it into my new computer It wouldn't accept it as valid. I bought warband fairly close to its release and from the paradox sight. So it's not the wildly addressed issue with steam. I know it is the proper key as it does fit the space required. Does the key only install for just the one computer? I remember it saying that wouldn't be something they would do with the game. I'm also wondering if this game even works off of serial keys anymore, as the website has no demo option any more just the buy option. This meaning I have nothing to enter a serial key in. Any help will be appreciated thanks.

Is your key 4x4 (four groups of four digits) ?
And you are sure you purchased a key for Warband and not the original M&B?

Your key will work on more than one machine over time, so that shouldn't be the problem.
And the trial is still possible--click the 'download' button, rather than buy on Taleworlds.com to get the current games to try and then activate with your key.

I've figured out the problem I've been using my old Mount and blade key and not the warband one. How do I specify which key I want from that eSellerate? As a side note I have purchased both games.

Your Warband key likely came through Avangate, not eSellerate.
