I love this mod, its a great way to get actual fights without having to worry about troop loss or hours of running around recruiting.
But there is a bug that has been bugging me, if you already have an item they give you, when they go to take their items back, they take it too.

Also, I seem to be lacking shields, this wasn't always a problem, but often They will give me all the weapons but when it comes to the shield I instead find my elite scimitar in it's stead.

This has happened a few times:
First under Nord, had the recruit's old shield taken from me (as it should have been), received no replacement, not even later as a Huscarl or Warrior.

First time as Swadian, I got up to the heater shield, that didn't get taken, no more replaced it.

Second time as Swadian I got no shield. (At this time I had mentioned Scimitar).

Rhodoks,I didn't get one.

Still, this hasn't stopped me playing, I just have to steal a shield from the battlefield (I like this system, but I do find myself constantly thinking "Which targets have the sword/shield I want" rather than what needs to be removed to reduced casualties/win).



Also, about your loot system, I seem to remember from reading the manual that loot is calculated based on:
The player is worth 8 shares, companions are worth 5 each and soldiers are worth 1 each and the loot it broken up based on that ratio, would it be possible to implement that, where you only get the 1 share? (Or 5 if you meet X condition, maybe?).

Also, instead of having items we don't have the skills for vanish, how about just put them in our inventory, so if we get the skill while still under that class, we don't miss out?
 
Cheers for the Info Mook, and yes we are working on this right now as I type like Duh said. The problem was (Big thanks to duh) we found that when you given items as part of the lords army, if you can not use it (like you said) the item is skipped, we have placed in code to get around this and make it so you get your items and you can charge in and well.. die :razz:

Do what hath been told Soldier! Get back to the front! ... fix will be out as soon as we can fix it.

I just got a couple of ideas and am feeling free to share with you;

Neat Ideas

-Whenever you achieved a regular number of killing, you are going to have a chance to wear the blood to sword. (I dont think i found exact term) So your weapon's stats will be increased by 1/10, whenever you achieve the same system in the battles, it will happen again and till 10/10, you will be increasing the weapon's stats then it will remain like that forever until you unwield.

-Another neat one, naming your weapon in a string which is hardcoded then naming your weapon with the choices you were given?

-Random Matters in battle like coming Wolves down from the hill and attack to both sides or a random reinforcement group for example a group of Swadian Footmen for the side of Swadia Faction and so on many things...

-Weather system and Height system. Simple, heavy armor in desert then your health is going to be decreased in battle or light armor in snowy weather can cause the same effect on you.

-If you are the one who killed the Lord or King in the opposite army then you can ask for his equipment from your Lord.

For-me-a-must Ideas

-Chel's Combat Abilites for sure.

-A mentor system which i mentioned in this very thread.

-More frequent encounters...

-With an order you can choose from the menu, you can betray your own army in combat. Of course you wont be able to proceed in the times that you are sure that you are going to be defeated. :wink: (Mentioned Caba'drin in the long past)

-Your own squad...you might be able to choose 5 companions maximum among the classic 20 companions to escort you in battle after you reach a high rank.

-Being able to be right side of Lord/King of the army you are in. At this rank, you will be able to control Archer side/Infantry side or Cavalry side of the army depending on the choice you gave at the question when you reach the rank.

I dont know if you need such ideas but i hope i can them implemented, very nice progress on mod...

Yes that will be includes in the next version we hope. As of now I need sleep, the devs will be slaving away while I Z.. I'm going to ask for our own board so we can sort out these posts.. Hopefully release a fix tomorrow for the issue with not receiving the correct equipment ect.. till then.. keep reporting.!

No need for a self-quote so soon (if ever)...particularly when the question has been answered elsewhere in the thread.

The only way to include this mod is through the source code. Neither Bryten or 1257AD has the source code open/released, so you need to ask them to incorporate it for you (or to release/open their source). However, Idibil has been following development closely, so this is likely to be seen in Brytenwalda.

Currently (and even with the preliminary fix for item difficulties that the devs have in place) shields are never guaranteed. Each time you upgrade you have a 1 in 3 chance of being given a shield by your commander, just like you only have a chance of getting a particular type of bow or melee weapon.

From your post and others, it sounds like this is not acceptable to folks?

Well, you can work around it, so its not unacceptable (acceptable being defined as it certainly isn't stopping me from playing), but it is strange  when every other unit of that class gets the item but you don't. For some troops, it is basically like being a knight but not being given a horse.

Would it be possible to use "sets" to distribute the items? Or even let us pick?

That way we don't get stuck with the heavy lance and sword but no shield.

I think Sunhawken hit the nail on the head.
 
can't wait for the fix on v1.142 to come out... I'm so ready to play this mod!!! Steam has me @ v1.142, and on site I see update v1.143, so does that mean Steam might get me updated to v1.143 too!!! and sorry I know this isnt topic to say these things. But good luck with v1.142 fix
 
Hello and thanks for this awesome mod, seems to run just fine at least with graphical mods (which is pretty expected).
And here is some feature suggestions.

1. Replace current ranking system with real ranks, which could be something like this, soldier->sergeant->lieutenant->captain.

2. After attaining sufficient rank your lord would give you some soldiers that you can command in battle, number of soldiers given would depend on your rank. You could ask your lord for more soldiers if some die, but that would result little negative relation with lord or you could go and use your own money to recruit needed soldiers. in addition you wouldn't have to pay and feed soldiers you are commanding in lords army because he is paying them, you just lead them in battle.

3. Show your pay in weekly budget report.

Also I'd like to know if its possible to remove item gaining trough ranks and how it could be done, because in medieval times soldier were generally required to fund their own equipment. I'm not listing this as feature suggestion because I think most people would be against it, I'd just like to know if its possible to do and if, how.

And once again thanks for this mod.
 
One idea, if it has not already been mentioned, would be the opportunity to enter into service as an alternative to imprisonment by a lord that is holding you captive

Since todays svn revision, 1257AD has freelancer.

Edit. As of today we have enquired about a child board for the mod so I can tidy up the board. Crossfingers.
