I dunno much about modding but if anyone would make a mod of this could work very nicely.
William Wallace style ^^

What I really want to see is a Napoleonic mod... At least, maybe the American Revolution. It'll probably be hard to get the AI to line up, march, shoot, etc.

I would love to be able to hire fellow clansmen. then go attack swadian soldier (Sawdian because they have more advanced armour than the scots)

thats funny ehh - youre topicing about old england and havent mentioned any english themes yet.... Scotland and England ARE different places, as any geordies or ayrshiremen will certainly tell you

Hehe... a lot of people make that same mistake about us Welsh too. Well if you a conversion to the whole of UK, that would be a great idea. Not sure how you would implement Ireland though since it is on a seperate island to the rest of the UK... which makes me wonder if there will be ship transport on the world map in a later version. Well even making 3 major factions would be good. England would be easy to fight for but with little rewards, Scotland would be pretty hard but with decent rewards and of course Wales would be the hardest to fight for but would have better rewards. (The rewards thing would be to balance it, I'm not taking favour over one place) Hmm maybe there could be famous NPC's that could be found and recruited for each team too. William Wallace for Scotland, William the Conqueror for England and Llewelyn ap Gruffyd for Wales. Of course that mucks up the timeline of history, but that wouldn't bother me a whole lot. If your looking for realism I guess it would be hard to find decent 'heroes' for all factions in the same period.

Does that sound like what your aiming for Russel?

Aye that sounds like it.
Each faction would look differently and I nice plot could be built into it.

id love to see the true story of william wallace implemented into the game and how he got his arse kicked in under a year

I guess ya mean the year after the decade and a half of successful guerilla warfare?

I was using a long bow the other day in M&B as it was intended by the gods - as a close range ambush weapon - very effective it was to, fire off a couple of saeth then get in there & bloody with the watered-steel nomad saber.

Apparently that was the way the people of Cymru used the long bow against everyone from the Romans right up until Llewyllyn the Last and it was only with full integration of Cymru into England as Wales that the English took the bow and used it for long range suppressive fire. There are examples of the deadliness of the bow at close range that a saeth loosed from it went thru the chain armoured leg of a heavy cavalryman, thru his saddle and far enough into the horse to kill it, after it was loosed from a distance of about 4 metres away. another example tells of a longbow loosed saeth being buried 4 inches into an oak door. 300 metres? PAH! 3 Metres is where you want to loose them from!

you mean hit and run attacks?

guerilla warfare = the girly mans tactic, im not botherd either way the scottish got slaughterd

Actually hit & run was their only option, an open war would mean a certain defeat for the scottish in most cases (excepting the Battle of Stirling Bridge and the Battle of Bannockburn after Willy Wally's death). I think everyone would agree to try and keep racism down a bit too, the way you say "im not botherd either way the scottish got slaughterd" gives the wrong impression as it did to me at first. Oh and the death of Wallace inspired Robert the Bruce to lead his great rebellions and defeat the English at a few battles so it wasn't a full loss.

War isn't honorable fisticuffs, weltonia. I'm not pretending to be an expert but I highly doubt that at any time in history war was ever 'fair'. In war, according to what I've read of people who have been in wars, you want to live. Everybody around you, including your enemy wants to live. And the simple thing is, you have to kill to live. If killing means dirty fighting, if it means attacking while the enemy is sleeping and fighting 'unfairly' then too bad for the other side.

And being a Scot I'm a little bit offended by "im not botherd either way the scottish got slaughterd" - it sounds a tad bit too close to racism to me. It's also makes you look like a pompous bigot.

what are you prats on about, youve taken a comment that was said tongue in cheek and tried to make me look a heartless fool

to varrent - Dont patronise me boy, also Everyone is racist in some way or other but i wont go into discussing that

Weltonia: Learn to type first, patronize later. I find it helps.

It's spelled with an s rather than a z in UK English

Heh well istadan... I wont dignify that with a response.

But i just thought i would defend myself more.. First off im from britain there is no difference between a scotsman and a englishman (other than the accent), how am i racist? I think you lads need to widen your volcabulary the term your after is xenophobic.

I suggest locking of this thread before more people take things far too seriously

Racism, or racist remarks of any kind are absoultely not tolerated in these boards.

weltonia: I am not banning you because I don't think you meant to be offensive in your post. But you should really be saying something like "I am sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn't my intention to do so" rather than "Don't patronize me" in your replies. Keeping discussions civil is good for everyone.

Ahem. I'm not trying to fuel a flame war here, but saying that I'm english with a different accent, I find that quite insulting and yet again a show of bigotry.

As a wise person said earlier in this thread, Learn to type first and pantronize earlier. It really does help.

And don't call me 'boy'. By your writing I would guess you are about 13-15, which is not an age where you could call anyone 'boy' in such a manner.

I also would strongly disagree with your... erm... theroy(?) that everyone is racist. When you wish to voice theroys I would also reccomend that you frame them as such - saying them like fact is, yet again, pompous.

You can change the names of the troops and towns.

I just changed mine to Welsh and Normands.
Just what was on top of my head from the Chivalry game, to see if it actually worked, and lo and behold, it did.

So turning it into ye olde England shouldn't be a problem.

Changing the names of the weapons ought to work as well.
The butchering knives could be turned into... what're they called... them dagger/short swords vikings used.
