So I just found out that if you're in a city doing whatever and there's a tournament... your companions can join. That's kinda duh, I know, but here comes the sick part I found out. If they WIN that tournament, you get the prize of whatever it was. That... I never would have expected that to be coded in. That is absolutely amazing. If that is actually what just happened, freaking well done Talesworld. That is sick as hell.

normally tournament prizes suck anyway, I just sell them like I would any looter's loot

They are mostly T4-5 items and can really help you out in the beginning of the game. Some of them, like for example mounts, can be useful even in to the late game.

They just took inspiration by Warband mods, nothing really new here...
What I don't get is why my kids and wife cannot take part in tournaments unless I drop them off...and even so, they rarely appear.

Are you sure? unless it was changed recently i have never received the prize despite my companions winning a few times.

those are the exception, or basically serve to fit your own companions into better gear, so if your companion won said item, just give it them... Is that so haaaaard? The guy has earned it on his own right after all... Still see nonsense on your complaint/observation haha
As for horses, you'll always be "gold sinking" them into troops anyway, I see no harm there, most war horses won't last a day in my inventory for instance...
