Ok, so we had some pep rally today.

And I just went home. Isn't it beautiful? Don't want to go to an assembly? Don't!

Wait until you're a fully fledged adult, they even let you pee in the shower if you want.

What the hell is a pep rally? All that happened in our assemblies is Mr Tarn, the sarcastic dry fat IT guy, took the piss out of people and the music kinds played rock covers, every month or so the guys with the most merits got certificates and even money. Took up 15 minutes of Maths nicely.

A girl at my school did that a few times. You'd think it'd start a conversation, but I was very dunk as well.

"Hiya. Got any beer?"

"Nah, me last one is on it's way out. HAW HAW HAW!!!"

And then we kissed. Yes, I've taken part in some very odd moments.

An *idiotic* assembly perpetrated solely for the purpose of "raising" "school spirit".

Dumbest ****ing thing I've heard in ages. Aiming to raise "school spirit" merely creates an atmosphere of animosity and loathing. You leave ****ers alone and they might work as a team, or they might not. Besides, school spirit implies you regard yourself as higher than your peers elsewhere. So it is a very crude form of nationalism. You could say Hitler raised "national spirit".

It seems to me that that is the whole point of school spirit.

I'm pretty sure everybody knows, we're all just trying to be polite dicks and pretend we're having a good time as to not upset the people who grades our work.

I started ignoring everything not related to learning/actual subjects in late elementary-school and got no **** from it (unless I wanted to attend of course, which was rare). Sports days? **** 'em. School concerts? Yeah, up the ass, etc.

Yeh we wern't actually made to do all the ****e in secondary school either. Religious things were the best.
"Naw sir. I don't believe in God."
"Ah right. Go to the 6th form study then"

I like them.

Everyone in my class bought airhorns, so whenever someone tried to say something into the microphone, we'd press them.

And we had this thing for what class could be the loudest, and since we had the airhorns, we got free pizza.

But then again, I'm on the sports teams, so I'm supposed to like them. :/

I had school spirit, but pep rallies always blew.  I didn't go into them with a bad mindset, but they just sucked every time.  Now in college, I have school spirit because I'm on the rugby team, because I really like school, and because I party with a lot of people from school (it's a student body of six thousand, so it's possible to party with a relatively large percentage of the people.).  So, I have school spirit.

Nothing wrong with school spirit. Some people like to represent their region and hometown and the schools have districts which allow for division. ULtimatly school spirit will not hurt... except for all you emo non-social beings out their. *gets the heebegeebies* sickening you lot are

School spirit is good, it helps keeping vandalism down, makes teaching and studying easier, and makes for a good atmosphere in class. That said, pep talks are not the way to go, friendly student-teacher relation, genuine interest, collegialism within the staff, extracurricular activities do wonders...
